Daw Playground Just Beautiful: Renovated Playground is a Testament to Community Spirit

What a great display of community spirit took place last Saturday when residents, town officials, and the Department of Public Works convened at Daw Playground to restore it and install the new playground equipment that will provide hours of enjoyment for children and their families.

Many of our residents donated their services to make this project a reality. Council President Peter Gill led a delegation from the Council who turned out to support this worthwhile endeavor.

We’ve always been impressed with the energy and volunteerism of our residents and the new appearance and improvements made at Daw Playground are another example of our townspeople coming together to bring positive change for the entire town.

We would be remiss if we didn’t thank Winthrop Town Manager James McKenna and grant writer Peter Lombardi for their efforts in securing the grant funds necessary to help the project move forward. The McKenna-Lombardi duo isn’t resting on their laurels. We understand that more grants may be forthcoming for other important projects. It makes us realize that Peter Lombardi has certainly been a valuable addition to the team at Town Hall. Keep up the great work, Peter.
