Great Job Johnna Fisher: Former WHS Standout Has Great Supporters

We have to note the tremendous turnout for former Winthrop High basketball star Johnna Fisher, whose Central Connecticut State University women’s team played against Boston College Monday night at Conte Forum. Johnna is a freshman center who is working hard in trying to make the transition from high school to Division 1 college basketball. There were several people who made the trip to Chestnut Hill to support Johnna, including her high school coach Ignacio Oyola and his current players.

We would be remiss if we didn’t note the great influence that former coach Peter Grimes had on Johnna’s development as a person and as a basketball player. Mr. Grimes did a lot to help Johnna along the way in realizing her dream to play Division 1 college basketball. Peter Grimes should take great pride and satisfaction in knowing that he made an important difference in the life of this Winthrop student-athlete who says she’s having a great experience in the Central Connecticut program.
