Thanks, Alan: Libray Director Performed Well Through Thick and Thin

The Town of Winthrop is losing another valued and outstanding department head, Library Director Alan Thibeault, who is heading to nearby Danvers to run the operations of that town’s public library.

We always have found Mr. Thibeault to be professional, accessible, and well-organized in making sure that our public library’s offerings could be the best they could be with the limited financial resources that the town provided him.

When Town Manager James McKenna announced the opening of the Winthrop Cultural Center and Museum, Alan was front and center supporting Yasmina Kamal, the new curator, in her efforts to lay a solid foundation to the new endeavor.

Coming on the heels of the recent departure of DPW Director Dave Hickey, the town’s loss of another excellent department head of Alan’s caliber will be sorely felt. Alan ran a great library with the assistance of a staff that is friendly and courteous and who tries to maximize the enjoyment for every visitor to the library. The Friends of the Winthrop Library were very supportive during Alan’s tenure as director and he made it known that he appreciated the group’s efforts.

We know it may be a cliche, but Winthrop’s loss is Danvers’ gain. Good luck, Alan, and thank you.
