Police Blotter 08-25-2011

Monday, Aug. 15

10:16 a.m. – A parking ticket is issued to a vehicle owner for blocking a driveway on Wave Way Avenue.

11 a.m. – There is a report of three vehicles parked in the Delby’s Lot that have been there for days. All three vehicle owners received parking tickets for exceeding the two-hour limit.

2:04 p.m. – Caller from Putnam Street reports someone attempted to open rear window/screen Sunday night (Aug. 14).

3:39 p.m. – Due to heavy rain several sections of the Winthrop Police Station are taking on water. The booking room is one of these areas that is flooding. All the booking computers were very wet and have been dried off, shut down, and covered by plastic. The Breath Test machine was also very wet, dried off, and shut off and covered. The ceiling tiles are coming down. The booking room camera attached to the ceiling to record bookings is separating from the ceiling toles.

5:56 p.m. – A caller from Shirley Street reports her four-year-old daughter fell in the living room and may have broken a bone.

11:52 p.m. – A female caller from River Road reports that a group is out in front of her house being noisy. They may be working on a car.

Tuesday, Aug. 16

1:11 a.m. – Officers checking the scene at the high school where there is a group of young people. Officer reports giving two of the individuals a ride to Sunnyside.

1:47 a.,m. – Caller from Hermon Street reports people being very loud and keeping him awake. Officers report there are no loud noises, just kids watching a movie and an air conditioner in operation.

11:23 a.m. – Washington Avenue resident complains of being ticketed in municipal lot when they have an agreement with town official and liquor store regarding parking. She was told to produce agreement and informed of her right to appeal.

11:36 a.m. – Call of a woman lying in the street (Winthrop Street) due to possible motor vehicle accident. An officer reports locating the woman near Wadsworth Street. It was not a motor vehicle accident; she just fell. Refused medical attention.

10:13 p.m. – Caller reports his neighbor on Ocean View Street is stating that her house is being broken into. Units report checking house. All clear.

Wednesday, Aug. 17

5:59 a.m. – Caller from Washington Avenue at Winthrop Street reports an intoxicated male wandering into traffic. Officer will transport individual to his grandmother’s house on Irwin Street.

11:25 a.m. A medical aid call is made from Pleasant Street. A husband cut himself with a saw. WFD is notified.

1:52 p.m. Caller from Veterans Road states that he sees two individuals approximately 18 years of age acting suspiciously and possibly looking to steal bikes. Office reports area clear.

3:24 p.m. – Caller from Tafts Avenue states while leaving his home he observed that his neighbor’s windows had the screens ripped out. Officers report the home appears to be secure.

6:56 p.m. –Caller requesting advice regarding a problem with an incident regarding her dog and another dog. Spoke to both parties and advised them to speak with the animal control officer when he returns.

Thursday, Aug. 18

12:25 a.m. – Caller from Governors Drive reports people arguing. Officer report. People praying loudly.

2:18 a.m. – Directed patrols begin and continue throughout the town. All areas reported as quiet.

2:36 a.m. – Officer reports being flagged down by City Cab on Crest Avenue. A female is sleeping in the back of the cab. Officers report. She lives in East Boston. Cab enroute.

7:37 p.m. – Directed patrol conducted at the basketball court, Cummings School, and Walden Street area. Small groups of youths, but no sign of public drinking.

8:54 p.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator on Shirley Street at Veterans Road.

9:03 p.m. – A verbal warning is given by a police officer to a motor vehicle operator on Veterans Road at Coral Avenue.

Friday, Aug. 19

12:20 a.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator on Shore Drive at Myrtle Avenue.

1:46 a.m. – A verbal warning is given by a police officer to a motor vehicle operator following a stop initiated on Almont Street.

1:52 a.m. – Caller reports that two subjects appear to have vandalized something near the courts. They are walking away now. Officer report. There is no vandalism, but the officers brought a bike back to the station.

2:13 a.m. – Directed patrols of the town begin and continue within the hour. All areas reported clear and quiet.

11:35 a.m. – Party reports a couple appears to be living at the end of Bayou Street. Officer reports a campsite set up but no one present. He will make frequent checks throughout shft and check ID of those there.

2:20 p.m. – Received report on Thursday, Aug. 18 from the Town Administrative officer reporting there are vehicles parking in the taxi spaces at the Hagman Road Municipal Lot. Officer reports there are two tax spaces; when he arrived there was a car in one of them. As he approached the car an employee of the auto body shop ran over and moved it. The officer warned them about parking in these spaces and told them not to have any of their vehicles parked in the lot overnight.

11:04 p.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motorcycle operator on Revere Street for operation the motorcycle without a helmet.

11:27 p.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator on Revere Street for a headlight violation.

11:36 p.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator on Pleasant Street for speeding.

11:50 p.m. – A traffic citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator on Pleasant Street for speeding.
