A Great Night: Viking Pride Foundation Knows How To Throw a Party

Has there been a more enjoyable event held in the town than last Saturday night’s Viking Pride concert featuring Evelyn “Champagne” King and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes at Miller Field?

Let’s first say that Ms. King brought her ‘A’ game to Miller Field. Her splendid rendition of her No. 1 hit “Shame” was like watching Babe Ruth hit a baseball. This was a legendary performer working hard from the moment she stepped onto the stage (after a nifty escort by the Winthrop Police onto the field) to the time she acknowledged the appreciation from her many fans. And Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes certainly kept the momentum going with their well-received and excellent performance.

The dance floor in front of the stage was filled and it was just a wonderful night for everyone who attended this event to support the great work of the Viking Pride foundation. If you weren’t able to attend, you missed an exciting and enjoyable evening and we hope all residents will consider attending the concert next year.

Congratulations to the Viking Pride Foundation and its chairman, Vincent Crossman, for making this evening possible for so many to enjoy and for raising funds to support our student athletes.
