Police Briefs 05-20-2011

Monday, May 9

12:40 a.m. -An individual is arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquir, failing to wear a seat belt, and a marked lanes violation.

9:18 a.m. – Employee of the high school brought in to the station a bicycle that was recovered in front of the school.

11:15 a.m. – A motor vehicle operator is stopped on Highland Avenue and given a verbal warning. He was stopped for an inquiry about his inspection sticker.

11:24 a.m. – A citation is issued to a motor vehicle operator for having an expired registration.

1:10 p.m. – A party from River Road reports that a swan may have been injured. The matter is referred to the animal control officer.

2:38 p.m. – Call from the Center Fire House reports a vehicle blocking their garage. The vehicle is tagged and removed.

10:49 p.m. – Report of a noisy group on Forrest Street. Officers report to scene and areas appears clear and quiet. Also checked out the house.

Tuesday, May 10

12:11 a.m. – There is a call from Revere Street that 20 kids are ready to fight. Officers report to the scene and disperse a group from the area without trouble.

12:25 p.m. – There is a report of a minor motor vehicle accident at Winthrop Street/WashingtonAve.2:32 p.m. – Caller from Revere Street reports theft of two cast iron radiators.

10:05 p.m. – Caller from Sunnyside Avenue reports a possibly dead squirrel at that location.

11:09 p.m. – Alarm going off on Atlantic Street residence. Transferred to WFD and they will handle the incident.

Wednesday, May 11

8 a.m. – Officer reports from Tafts Avenue that a motor vehicle has an expired registration sticker. The vehicle will be towed and a citation will be issued.

10:38 a.m. – Call of a minor accident at Main Street/Pleasant Park Road. Officer reports very minor accident and assists in the exchange of registration papers.

12:45 p.m. – Caller from Shore Drive reports witnessing a male and female walking along Shore Drive looking in cars and trying car doors. Officer reports speaking with a female matching the description given.  A female who was walking with her child denied walking along the beach with any male or trying car doors.

5:35 p.m. – A caller from Shirley Street reports that a woman came to his door selling calendars and told him he could win money and that the funds were for a playground. The caller was told that there is a fundraiser being conducted at the Gorman School and that is most likely what the woman was selling for the school.

10:15 p.m. – A man on Court Road found a needle. Officer reports that he will pick it up at that location.10:7 p.n. – A caller from Winthrop Street reports a blocked driveway. The vehicle is towed.

Thursday, May 12

1:37 a.m. – Caller from Revere Street/Shirley Street reports a car carrier has been idling for hours. Officer reports to scene, escorting truck out of town.

9:32 a.m. – A woman from Pleasant Park Road is yelling at workers about erecting detour signs, threatening to knock the signs down.

2 p.m. – Party from Overlook Drive reports several vehicle of parents waiting for the school tolet out parked in the residential spaces. Officer reports the area is clear now.

5:26 p.m. – A series of directed patrols begin and continue for a period of two hours. All areas of the town reported as clear.

Friday, May 13

2:06 a.m. – A series of conducted patrols begin and continue for one hour. All areas reported asquiet.

9:43 a.m. – A party from Winthrop Street walks in to the police station and reports antenna was broken off her car sometime in the past three days.

5:25 p.m. – Two calls of youths asking people if they are paying cash or charge for gas at a Main Street station. Officers report to the scene. The two individuals are in custody.

5:35 p.m. – Caller from area of McKenna Basketball Courts on Walden Street reports that older teens are loitering, smoking, and preventing the younger kids from playing ball. A detective reports the situation is all normal at this time.
