Michael Mason

Member of Winthrop Hall of Fame and 1000 Points Club

Michael J. Mason of Tafts Avenue, Winthrop, died after a valiant battle with a sudden illness at the Boston Medical Center on April 13. He was 36 years old.

A graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1993, Michael was captain of three sports, a member of the Hall of Fame and the 1000 Points club.  He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Bentley College where he continued to play football and baseball.  He may best be known as a quarterback, a pitcher, a basketball player and a coach, but he was also, and more importantly, a brother, a son, a friend and an upstanding member of the Winthrop community.  His legacy will live on in our hearts, in our memories, and in the number eleven.

He was the son of the late Arline A. (Daly) and is survived by his father, Joseph A. Mason, Sr., his sisters Karen A. Mason and Kimberly A. Nichols, his brother Joseph A. Mason, Jr. (J.), his niece, Emily A. Nichols and his nephew, Russell E. Nichols, as well as an extended family that includes many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

His funeral was conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, April 16 followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Charles Bourke celebrated the Mass and offered prayers at the burial in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Anita Stone Yeshman

Past President of PTA and Sisterhood of Temple Tifereth Israel

Anita Stone Yeshman, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, died in Florida on April 17. She was 79 years old.

Mrs. Yeshman grew up in Winthrop, the daughter of the late Jacob “Jack” and Sophie (Ellman) Casdan. After graduation from Winthrop High School, she worked as a legal secretary in a Boston law firm. She and her late first husband, Hubert Stone, raised their four daughters in Winthrop where she was very involved in her children’s school activities and served as president of the PTA. In addition she had a lifelong involvement with Temple Tifereth Israel where she had served as president of the Sisterhood.

After the death of her first husband, she was later married to the now late Phillip Yeshman. She is survived by her children, Robin and Stuart Einbinder of West Hempstead, NY, Sara and Michael Kelly of Raynham, Abby Stone of Brockton and Dana and Carey Denise of Brockton. She was the grandmother of Elliot and his wife, Rena Einbinder, Ari and Yudie Einbinder, Justin and his wife, Rachel Kelly, Shannon and Matthew Kelly, David and Sofia Denise and great-grandmother of Tzipora, Meira and Tova. She was the sister of Stanley Casdan, Alvin Casdan and the late Grace Cohen.

Funeral Services under the direction of Levine Chapels, Brookline, will be held at Temple Tifereth Israel, 93 Veterans Rd., Winthrop, today, Thursday, April 21 at 12:30 p.m. Following the burial at Sharon Memorial Park, the family will be at the home of Sara and Michael Kelly. Lyndsey Joy Clark

Graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 2002

Lyndsey Joy Clark of Melrose died suddenly on April 17. She was 26 years old.

A graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 2002, she was the beloved daughter of Lauren (Blasi) Clark of Revere and Briggs Clark of Hampton, NH; loving mother of Jaelina Joy Slaughter and Michael Ronald Slaughter, both of Revere; dear sister of Jonathan B. Clark of Melrose and Devra J. (Clark) Najera of New York City; cherished granddaughter of Bernice and Paul Blasi of Winthrop and Dixie Clark of Melrose; loving great granddaughter of Sarah and William Taylor of Melrose. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Her Funeral will be held from the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose on Friday, April 22 at 9 a.m. followed by her Funeral Blessing at The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Peter Ciccarelli Sr.

Winthrop resident

Peter A. Ciccarelli, Sr. of Winthrop died on April 14.

A US Army veteran and a member of the Air National Guard 102nd Fighter Wing, he was the beloved husband of Patricia (McGrath) Ciccarelli; loving father of Peter A. Ciccarelli, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Chelmsford, Diane Gelineau and her husband, Lawrence, of Waltham, Donna Ciccarelli of Revere, Janis Survilas and her husband, Kirk, of Peabody; cherished grandfather of Michael, Lauren, Peter, Alyssa and Erin; brother of Paul F. Ciccarelli and his wife, Mary, of Saugus and the late Michael O. Ciccarelli and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Edward Wall Sr.

Boston Globe retiree

Edward O. Wall Sr. of Beachmont-Revere, died on April 15.

A US Navy veteran of World War II, he was a retired employee of the Boston Globe with more than 40 years of service; a Life Member of the Boston Sterotype Union #2, a former member of the Holy Name Society of Lady of Lourdes Parish and of Vittorri Rocci Post #56, Beverly.

He was the beloved husband of the late Eileen C. (Aylward) Wall; loving father of Edward Wall, Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Winthrop, Elizabeth Roper and her husband, Michael, of Revere, Joan Consilvio of Winthrop, Nancy Wall of Revere, John Wall and his wife, Deirdre, of Salisbury and the late Joseph Wall and his wife, Suzanne, of Dunstable; brother of the late William Wall; companion of Janice Reed of Marblehead and is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul Brickley

Boston resident

Paul M. Brickley of Boston, formerly of Melrose, died on April 13.

He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was the loving father of Ellie Brickley of Winthrop and Michael Brickley of Virginia; devoted son of the late George V. and Eleanor R. (Vietro) Brickley and is also survived by many aunts and uncles.

James J. Powers of East Boston died unexpectedly on April 11.

He was the cherished son of Mary (Botto) Powers of East Boston and the late James J. Powers, Sr; loving brother of Linda Coolidge and her husband, Ralph, of Amesbury, Mary Masucci and her friend, Richard Fawcett, of Revere, Matthew Powers of Winthrop and Ronald F. Kim Marie Gordon of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on April 12.

She was the beloved daughter of George Gordon of Revere and the late Grace “Gracie” (Elacqua) Gordon; loving mother of Mark J. Gordon and his friend, Janea Piso, of East Boston; loving sister of Dennis Gordon, Richard Gordon and his wife, Michelle, and Mark Gordon and his wife, Jo-Ann, all of Revere, Kenneth Gordon and his wife, Annette, and George Gordon and his wife, Rosemarie, all of East Boston; cherished grandmother of Mark Jr. and Nathan Gordon; niece of Concetta and William Cunningham of East Boston and dear friend of Debby Penaranda. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
