Police Blotter 03-31-2011

March 21

9:25 a.m. – The DPW is notified about a missing sewer cover on Argyle Street.

11:15 a.m. — A Wave Way Avenue resident calls to request his daughter be escorted from his residence. Officers helped mediate the situation, and the daughter left willingly.

3:03 p.m. — A Court Road resident repeatedly called the station “regarding a cat issue.” The ACO was notified and was the organization “Mass Paws.”

6:18 p.m. — The ACO is notified about a dead cat on Jefferson Street.

6:57 p.m. — An Auxiliary Officer reports that two males in a car headed in the direction of the beach appear to have been drinking.

March 22

8:16 a.m. — A Seal Harbor Road resident reports he was the victim of a scheme in which someone claiming to be a law enforcement official in the Dominican Republic conned him into sending money via Western Union.

11:05 a.m. — A caller claims a roofer is throwing debris onto Winthrop Street, but units report the area is clear.

2:25 p.m. — A Siren Street resident alleges that her landlord enters her apartment without authorization.

2:29 p.m. — A party from Woodside Avenue reports a past case of shoplifting of tools. The suspect was caught on tape, and an officer will follow-up with store management.

4:24 p.m. — A caller reports there are children on a roof of a house on Main Street. Officers responded, and the matter did not require their intervention.

5:07 p.m. — A car was ticketed for being in a resident’s handicapped spot on Hermon Street.

5:36 p.m. — A caller reports a small rowboat is adrift near the long pier that extends from Logan Airport. The WFD is notified.

6:13 p.m. — A resident reports a break-in at a storage unit on his property.

March 23

6 a.m. — A Shirley Street tenant reports she can’t pull out of the driveway because the landlord has blocked him in. Units report that this stems from a dispute over rent. Both vehicles are on private property.

7:15 a.m. — Aris Palma, 24, of Winthrop, was arrested on two counts of domestic assault and battery.

7:17 a.m. — A caller from the Honey Dew Donuts on Shirley Street reports cash is missing from the register.

7:33 a.m. ¬—  A woman called to report all four of her car tires were slashed while parked on Bayou Street.

10:27 a.m. — A person came into the station to report the theft of a license plate.

1:50 p.m. — Paul Ford, 27, of Winthrop, was arrested on charges of larceny from a building, nighttime B&E, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license after police were called to Energy to Go on Shirley Street, where the alleged crimes had taken place the night before.

8:35 p.m. — An Edward Street resident reported a past attempted breaking and entering.

8:55 p.m. — A caller reports screaming from the cemetery, but officers didn’t find anyone in the vicinity when the searched the area.

11:56 p.m. — Officers quieted down a party on Golden Drive.

March 24

2:23 p.m. — A resident reported receiving a phone call from someone claiming to be from Mass Highway. The person reportedly claimed the resident hit a guardrail, which he says never happened.

7:34 a.m. — Steven Stacy, 48, if Winthrop, was arrested on a charge of open and gross lewdness following a call from father who alleged the man was making inappropriate comments and gestures to his two daughters at a bus stop. The man who was arrested is a registered sex offender.

12:49 p.m. — A Bartlett Road resident reported a case of phone fraud. WPD has received several similar calls in recent days, and reminds residents to be alert for scam artists.

2:25 p.m. — Officers respond to a domestic dispute on Orlando Avenue.

4:20 p.m. — A Neptune Avenue resident turned in weapons to the WPD, which were inventoried and signed for by the owner.

5:29 p.m. — A mother and daughter reported a case of e-mail threats made by a sibling. A restraining order was issued.

7:19 p.m. — A Hermon Street resident reports that someone broke the door knob on a door in a common area at his residence. Nothing was reported stolen.

8:18 p.m. — Jason Socobasin, 34, homeless, was arrested on charges of unarmed burglary, resisting arrest, possession of a class E substance after authorities were called to Wilshire Street. The suspect allegedly broke in a glass door before fleeing toward Paine Street. During the altercation, Lt. Scarpa suffered a torn calf muscle.

9:42 p.m. — A Fairview Street resident reports a rear window on her car was broken sometime today.

March 25

11:47 a.m. —A Sea Vie Avenue resident reports that he has been getting calls from a credit card company promising to lower his rates, but the phone number is bogus.

1:40 p.m. —A party comes into the station to report a person playing loud music from a “boom box” on Shirley Street.

2:42 p.m. — Units respond to Shirley Street on a complain that someone is playing loud music. The man was working on his car stereo and apologized for the disturbance.

3:58 p.m. — A party came into the station to report a dog is running loose in the area. A message was left with the ACO.

8:24 p.m. — Gilberto Milane, 39, of Winthrop, was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop/yield.

11:38 p.m. — Units disperse a group of approximately 20 youths from Putnam Street.
