There was another large turnout for the annual Legislative Breakfast presented by the Harbor Community Health Alliance, a volunteer network of providers and community leaders working together to improve the health status of Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop.
The breakfast brings together these leaders to share information and consider the many issues facing them in the year ahead. Winthrop community leader Pat Milano shared the MC duties with Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, who led a large delegation of state officials that included our State Senator, Anthony Petruccelli, State Sen. Sal DiDomenico, and State Reps. Kathi-Anne Reinstein and Eugene O’Flaherty. John Auerbach, Commissioner of the Mass Department of Public Health, was one of the featured speakers.
Perhaps the most touching moment occurred when a young woman spoke about how she had overcome much adversity to get her life back on track, utilizing the social service programs that are available in the state.
Our officials and everyone at the breakfast understood the significance of her remarks and how local and state health and social service programs play such an important role in the lives of thousands of Massachusetts residents every day.
