Carol Sullivan

Of Winthrop, formerly of Charlestown

Carol (Macdonald) Sullivan of Winthrop, formerly of Charlestown, died at the Concord Health Care Center on October 4. She was 79 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late John D. " Sully" Sullivan Sr. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret (Redmond) Macdonald; devoted mother of Andrea L. Lombard and her husband, Jack, of Ft. Myers, Florida, Lynne M. Winter and her husband, Billy, Lorraine M. Quint and her husband, Charles, and Paula A. Corbett, all of Winthrop, and the late John D. Sullivan Jr.; dear sister of Andrew Macdonald of Wisconsin, James Macdonald of Hyde Park, David Macdonald of Marshfield, and Claire Klier of Lexington. She is also surrvived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop today, Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Louis Hansen

Eastern Airlines retiree

Louis V. Hansen of Winthrop died at the Whidden Hospital on October 3. He was 85 years old.

A U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II who served on the USS Boston, he worked for Eastern Airlines in the Maintenance Department prior to his retirement.

He was born in Boston, the son of the late Harry and Viola (Wilcox) Hansen; beloved husband of Mary N. (English) Hansen; devoted father of Robert Hansen and his wife, Donna, of Evansville, Indiana, Richard Hansen and his wife, Jo-Anne, of Peabody, Ronald Hansen of Winthrop, Karen Schlichting and her husband, Walter, of Winthrop, and Joann Huckins and her husband, David, of Tilton, NH, and the late Patricia A. Keenan and father-in-law to her husband, David, of Standish, ME; dear brother of Earl Norman Hansen of Melrose, George Hansen of Revere, Robert Hansen of Saugus, William Hansen of Florida, Catherine Patten of California, Christine Havens of Haverhill, and the late Harold Hansen and Karen Corbett; adored grandfather of Michael and Diane Schlichting and Jessica Huckins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St, Winthrop on Friday, October 8 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Cleo Marie Grimes

Social Security Department retiree

Cleo Marie Grimes of Winthrop, promoted to glory, passed away at the Lighthouse Nursing Home in Revere on October 2. She was 86 years old.

A member of the U.S. Marine Corps.-Korean War, prior to her retirement, she worked for the Social Security Department as a clerk.

Born in Winthrop, she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael I. and Mary E. (Madden) Grimes; beloved aunt of Diane VanDalinda Sands and her husband, Kenneth, of Winthrop, Frank Corbett and his wife, Linda, of Concord, James Grimes and his wife, Mary, of Carver, Linda Grimes and Patrick Grimes of Boulder, CO, Patricia Wells of Santa Cruz, CA, Pamela Armstrong of Olympia, WA, and Barbara Wells of Dallas, TX; grand aunt of Kristen VanDalinda Teehan and Megan VanDalinda of Winthrop, Kelly Corbett McIntosh of Concord and Katelyn Corbett of Yarmouth, ME, and several other nieces and nephews. She was the dear sister of the late Thomas and Leonard Grimes, Elizabeth Corbett and Virginia Wells.

A Funeral Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 90 Central Ave, Revere, today, Thursday, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Bruce Bibbey

Federal Express retiree

Bruce F. Bibbey of New York, NY, formerly of Winthrop, died at the Shaugnessy Hospital/North Shore Medical Center on October 3. He was 65 years old.

A U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran of the Vietnam War, he worked for Federal Express as a project Engineer prior to his retirement.

Born in Chelsea, he was the beloved son of the late George and Agnes (Butler) Bibbey; dear brother of Carter Bibbey and Bonnie Bibbey, both of Winthrop, and the late Kenney Bibbey. Always remembered in his heart, was his beloved pet and companion, the late Eric.

His Funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Elizabeth K.M. (MacFarlane) DiStasio of Randolph died on September 30. She was 81 years old.

She was born in Boston and was a retired Telephone Operator for AT&T. She was a member of the Eastern Star, ManiCani Island Association and loved bingo.

She was the beloved wife of Richard P. DiStasio; loving mother of John DiStasio of Georgia, Joyce DiStasio of Texas, Jan DiStasio of Randolph and Judy DiStasio of Texas; dear grandmother of Steven DiStasio of Winthrop and John DiStasio Jr. of Tennessee.

Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 No. Main Street, (Rte 28), Randolph. A funeral service will be held today, Thursday, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Robert Penza

Former private courier service owner

Robert J. Penza of Revere, formerly of Randolph, died on October 2 after a valiant battle with liver cancer and in the aura of love and devotion of his wife of 18 years Kathleen R. "Katie" (Ryan) and his cherished daughter, Caitlin R. Penza. He was 52 years old.

Mr. Penza owned and operated a private courier service principally working at US Express at Logan Airport until 2008.

He was the adored son of Robert J. Sr. and Dorothy B. (Keddy) Penza of Randolph; dear brother of Linda M. Martell and her husband, Ronald, Sandra J. Penza and Laurie Goldman, all of Abington, Frank J. Penza and Shelly Hirsch of Randolph; beloved son-in-law of Neil T. Ryan and his wife, Marie, of Alfred, Me. and the late Kathleen B. (Curran) Ryan; beloved brother-in -law of Neil Ryan and his wife, Catherine, and Annmarie Berry, all of South Boston, Michael Ryan of Hanson and Janet Saran of Hingham. He is also lovingly survived by William and Christine LaPaglia of Winthrop and many caring aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Sandra Marie (Mulloy) O’Brien of East Boston died unexpectedly on October 1.

She was the beloved wife of William O’Brien with whom she shared 45 years of marriage; loving mother of Lisa, Debra, Derek and Steven O’Brien, all of East Boston and sister of the late Doreen Hardiman; cherished daughter of Olympia (Fiore) Mulloy of East Boston and the late William Mulloy; grandmother of five and aunt of George Hardiman of East Boston.

Member of Cottage Park Yacht Club and Winthrop Golf Club

Veronica A. (Murphy) Sweeney of Winthrop died suddenly, at the Massachusetts General Hospital on September 29. She was 93 years old.

A salesperson for Revlon Cosmetics prior to her retirement, she was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club and the Winthrop Golf Club.

The beloved wife of the late John V. "Jack" Sweeney, she was born in Nashua, NH, the daughter of the late John A. and Mary (Krieger) Murphy. She was the devoted mother of Shelley Connolly and her husband, Thomas, Jill McIlroy and her dear friend, Philip Moody, all of Winthrop, and the late Michael Sweeney; adored grandmother of Tucker and Corey Connolly and Caitlin and Dioan McIlroy and cherished great-grandmother of Cambria McIlroy and Brandon Martinez. She was the dear sister of Ruth Sennott of Boxford, Martha Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, and the late Eileen Brady, Rita Rawley, and John "Buddy" Murphy and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Helen Bozzi; dear sister of the late Millie and Ralph Ciambrelli; loving aunt of Lori Devlin and her husband, John, of Winthrop, Ellen Ferrari and her husband, Len, of Saugus, Kerri Ciambrelli of Revere and Ron Bautista; great aunt of John Devlin Jr.and Nicholas Ferrari.
