The Winthrop Police and Fire Departments deserve praise for holding a such a wonderful cookout and tribute in honor of the retirement of Tony Rossetti, the long time owner of Publix Shoe.
It was a festival atmosphere in Winthrop Center last Friday evening as hundreds of Winthrop residents stopped by to enjoy some delicious hot dogs, sausages, and hamburgers and personally wish Tony well on his retirement. How great it was to see middle aged residents showing Mr. Rossetti their baby shoes that had been bronzed for posterity by their parents.
Mr. Rossetti was very appreciative of the gesture by the Police and Fire Departments and the large turnout of Winthrop residents. The Chamber of Commerce also held a wonderful gathering for Mr. Rossetti Thursday night, thanking him for 63 years of excellent service to our townspeople. This was a man who was loved by all and whose daily presence in the Center will be missed.
