Another Choice – School Committee needs to fill a second void

For the second time in two weeks, the Town Council and School Committee will hold a joint meeting to elect a new member to the Winthrop School Committee. The Committee picked Mark Rotondo to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Gus Martucci and on Tuesday, the Committee will select the successor to Chairwoman Pat Milano, who also decided to step down from the Committee.

It’s nice to see that so many residents have expressed an interest in serving on the Committee. This is an important year for the schools with the accreditation process already in motion and the School Department’s impending move to Town Hall.

We trust that the Council and School Committee will choose wisely because the new School Committee member must be prepared to hit the ground running.
