10:52 AM: A Siren st. resident reported that a neighbor has a sign in a window of his home, facing hers, with profane language written in it. An officer will have the sign taken down.
11:46 AM: Off. Donnellan stopped a MV on Shirley st. and issued a citation to the operator for the CMVI of failing to stay in marked lanes. The operator had crossed over the double yellow lines.
12:56 PM: A report of a trunk being dumped on the sidewalk on Beal st. was referred to the DPW.
2:04 PM: Off. Curran ordered a tow for a MV parked on Main st. with an expired registration.
2:51 PM: A report of a dead raccoon on the sidewalk on Upland rd. was referred to the DPW.
3:05 PM: Off. Curran assisted the parties with the exchange of papers at a minor MVA on Adams st.
3:39 PM: Off. Donnellan stopped a MV on Main st. and issued a citation to the operator for the CMVI of failing to stop for a stop sign.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 19
1:34 AM: An Upland rd. resident reported vandalism to the Christmas decorations on his lawn.
1:38 PM: Off. Freeman restored the peace at a disturbance between tenants at a Prospect ave. residence.
8:05 AM: A Dolphin ave. resident reported vandalism to the Christmas decorations on his lawn.
10:22 AM: Off. Donnellan stopped a MV on Main st. and issued a citation to the operator for the CMVI of misusing a repair plate.
10:35 AM: A report from a MV operator that a sewer cover came up after he drove over it on Shirley st. was referred to the DPW.
12:03 PM: A Dolphin ave. resident reported vandalism to her fence and that a blow up Santa at the next door neighbor’s had been punctured.
5:18 PM: Officers responded to the report of a disturbance in a Washington ave. apartment. They arrested Michael C. Ivaldi, 35, of 267 Washington ave., on a charge of disorderly conduct.,
6:42 PM: Officers responded to a call from a resident who said he was being attacked by his mother in law. The officers restored the peace.
7:11 PM: Officers responded to a report of a MVA at Magee’s Corner. They arrested Stacey Marie Clapper, 24, of Stoneham, on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, and unlicensed operation of a MV. She also was cited for the CMVI of a marked lanes violation.
7:56 PM: Officers responded to a report that a group of youths were attempting to break into the Temple Tifereth Israel. The officers arrested a 16 year old juvenile on charges of trespassing and illegal possession of a Class D controlled narcotic substance with intent to distribute.
9:02 PM: Officers responded to a request from a resident who wanted her son removed from her house. The officers placed the son, a 20 year old Winthrop resident, intro protective custody.
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20
12:07 AM: Officers responded to a report of a large party at Governors Drive with persons running up and down the hallways. The officers arrested Stoyan Sabev, 35, of 300 Gov. Drive, on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and assault & battery upon a police officer.
3:45 AM: Officers returned to the apartment at Gov. Drive upon further reports of a loud party. They arrested Nedko L. Sabev, 33, of East Boston, on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and malicious destruction of property under $250.
4:37 AM: Officers returned once again to the apartment at Gov. Drive upon further reports of a loud party. The officers again arrested Stoyan Sabev, 35, of 300 Gov. Drive (he had been bailed out of jail earlier by a clerk magistrate) on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and keeping a noisy house.
5:17 AM: Police ordered tows for 22 MVs throughout the town for failing to comply with the town’s snow emergency parking ban.
9:40 AM: Off. Curran stopped a MV on Revere st. with its front bumper hanging down and other damage to it. The officer later learned that the MV had crashed into a utility pole at Revere and Hutchinson sts. Verizon was notified.
11:26 AM: Off. Curran responded to a report of a MVA at Veterans rd. and Almont st. Three parked MVs had been struck and damaged by a hit and run operator. The officer ordered one MV towed because it had a registration revoked for insurance cancellation.
12:55 PM: A Shirley st. resident reported that her MV had been vandalized overnight while parked behind her house. Her windshield wipers, ignition, and door locks had been glued.
8:54 PM: A resident reported that he had lost his Sears credit card last month and has discovered that it has been used in numerous locations.
10:18 PM: A MV crashed through a fence at Hutchinson and Revere sts.
MONDAY, DECEMBER 21
8:32 AM: Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and restored the peace.
9:20 AM: A Maryland ave. resident reported a B&E into his MV. The thief broke a rear window and took Cigarettes, binoculars, and CDs.
9:23 AM: A Bellevue ave. resident reported a B&E into his MV overnight.
12:45 PM: A report of two black Labs running loose on Cottage Park rd. was referred to the ACO.
1:59 PM: A report of a MV and boat sliding into the harbor down the ramp at the Public Landing was referred to the Harbormaster and WFD.
3:34 PM: A Bellevue ave. resident reported a B&E into his MV overnight. An Ipod and loose change were taken.
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 22
12:04 PM: A report of an aggressive dog on Prospect ave. was referred to the ACO.
12:15 PM: Officers responded to a MVA at Hermon and Main sts. One MV was towed.
3:25 PM: Off. Bonavita stopped a MV at Pleasant and Sargent sts. and issued citation to the operator, a Winthrop resident, for a CMVI.
5:28 PM: A Washington ave. resident reported that two tires on her MV had been flattened.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 23
10:15 AM: A Prescott st. resident reported a B&E into her MV a few days ago, but nothing was taken.
4:47 PM: CVS reported that a shoplifter was caught on video.
7:15 PM: The suspect from the previous call returned to CVS and was given a No Trespass order.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24
1:34 AM: An officer who was following an SUV with five passengers in the area of Cross st. requested backup. The officers stopped the MV on River rd. and the occupants fled. They eventually were located on Pleasant st. The officers arrested Carlos Velasquez, 17, of East Boston, on charges of larceny of a MV, receiving stolen property over $250, receiving stolen property under $250, and unlicensed operation of a MV. The officers also cited him for the CMVI of a lights violation.

The ticketing to cars while parked on the streets is not needed. Like come on now, there is enough parking in Winthrop. And you wonder why no one pays the tickets. We pay enough bills to worry about if we dont have parking in a drive way or is we dont have the town sticker which you make us pay for to. This town needs to get it together. We may not have much crime but what we do have is drug addicts everywhere. Winthrop Schools are the gateway to drugs, honestly no lie. And the cops are worried about giving out tickets while everyone is sleeping in their home, when what you should be doing is stoping these drugs addicts from breaking into our cars.
