The Rotary Club of Winthrop presented the Winthrop football program’s most prestigious award, the Irving Alexander Award, at a luncheon Monday to captain Will Milano. It’s a tradition that dates back many decades and it was heartwarming to hear Milano tell the Rotary how much the award meant to him and how being an athlete and a football player at Winthrop High has been an important part of his life.
Will Milano has been a scholar-athlete for four years at the high school and is currently a member of the WHS varsity basketball team. We want to congratulate him on receiving the Alexander Award and thank the Rotary Club of Winthrop for making it such a memorable day for Will and his family. Will certainly is worthy of joining the long line of outstanding Viking football players who have received this award for three generations.
