Cosimo D’Aiello

Worked for Perini Construction

Cosimo D’Aiello of Forest Street, Winthrop died at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 26after a long illness. He was 82 years old.

A resident of the North End, he moved to Winthrop 45 years ago. Prior to his retirement, Mr. D’Aiello worked as a laborer for Perini Constrction.

Born in Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Pierena (Barbera) and Giuseppe D’Aiello; the beloved husband of Giovanna (Barbera) and the loving father of Joseph D’Aiello and his wife, Valerie, of Florida, Anthony D’Aiello of Salem, Pierena Parece and her husband, Warren, of North Reading and John D’Aiello and his wife, Lisa, of Winthrop; brother of Zina DiSalvo of Revere and Giovanna Calvi of Jamaica Plain; cherished grandfather of Julianne, Michelle, Jonathan, Andrew and Matthew.

His Funeral will be held from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, October 31 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Friday, October 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass in th Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery. Patricia Pearce

Retired travel agent

Patricia A. (Martin) Pearce of Winthrop died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on October 24. She was 75 years old.

A retired travel agent, she was the beloved wife of Thomas Pearce. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Coleman and Mildred (Hoyle) Martin; dear sister of Helen Mosher of Peabody; adored aunt of Patricia Messina of Salem, Richard Mosher Jr. of Winthrop, Mary Pierzchala and William Mosher, both of Peabody and several other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church today, Thursday, at 10 a.m. with a visitation at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop beginning at 8:45 a.m. today. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Janice Ronan

Winthrop Arts Association member

Janice M. (Crocker) Ronan of Winthrop died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on October 24. She was 70 years old.

Born in Lynn, she was a member of the Winthrop Art Association and the Lynn Arts and Crafts Society.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Ronan Sr., the daughter of the late Walter J. and Doris M. (Hogan) Crocker; the devoted mother of Philip W. Ronan and his wife, Paula, of Winthrop, Ronald J. Ronan Jr., and his wife, Rosa, of Winthrop, and Karen Heffler and her husband, Kevin, of Burlington; adored grandmother of Eric and Brendan Ronan, Andrew and Alayna Ronan and Alison, Kailee and Jenna Heffler.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Raymond Santangelo Jr.

Of New Hampshire, formerly of the North End

Raymond F. Santangelo Jr. of New Hampshire, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on October 23.

A family member of the Madonna Della Cava Society, he was the beloved husband of Roberta (Strazzullo) Santangelo; the devoted father of Jessica R. Santangelo, loving son of Raymond F., Sr. and the late Nancy (Tragno), dear brother of Joseph and Emily Santangelo of Winthrop, Gina and Joseph Chiarenza of Lynn, and Paul Santangelo of Winthrop and is also survived by two nieces, six nephews, three grand nephews and one grand niece.

Evelyn Russell

Registered Nurse

Evelyn M. (Willard) Russell of Peabody, formerly of Winthrop, died on October 23. She was 85 years old.

A graduate of the Mass. General School of Nursing, she was employed by Massachusetts General and the Gillette Co. as a registered nurse.

She was the wife of the late George Russell; loving mother of George (Denise) Russell of Vernon, CT, the late Vincent Russell of Framingham, the late Lawrence (Jean) Russell of Plymouth, Monica (Ken) Dube of N. Billerica, and Andrea (John) Moriarty of Algonquin, IL; loving grandmother of David, Michael, Matthew (Marissa), Scott, Mark, Courtney, Cole, Sienna and Caroline and great grandmother of Austin and Emma. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of the North Shore, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923. A private memorial service will be held. Karen Zappala

Owned "Simply Kids" and Andover Video Stores

Karen M. Zappala of Lynnfield, formerly of Revere, died at home on October 22. She was 48 years old.

Born in Boston on December 10, 1960, she was the daughter of Thomas J. and Catherine F. (Countie) Murphy of Lynnfield. Mrs. Zappala was raised in Revere and was a graduate of Pope John High School. She was the owner and operator of Andover Video. She was also the owner of Simply Kids a clothing store in Lynnfield. She later worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital Gift Shop.

Mrs. Zappala was the wife of the late William J. Zappala. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughters, Brittany C. Zappala and Alex Zappala, both of Lynnfield, her stepdaughter, Kimberly Burke and her husband, Thomas, of Lynnfield, her brother, Thomas Murphy of Natick and her sisters, Joan Marks of Winthrop and Ann Russell of Stoneham. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Paul R. "Red" Sinatra of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on October 17.

A US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the beloved husband of the late Diane (Costello) Sinatra; loving father of Christina Sinatra of Revere; dear brother of Natalie Colella of Watertown, Joseph of Swampscott, Carl F. of Newton and the late Dolores Livoti, Frances Vasquez, Joan B. Beatrice, Robert and Vincent J. Sinatra Jr.; cherished grandfather of James A. Feeley Jr. of Winthrop.

George Leventhal of Winthrop died on October 22.

He was the devoted husband of the late Frances (Ellis); beloved father of Dr. Herbert H. and Arlene Leventhal, Dr. Melvin M. and Barbara Leventhal, and Lois Landy; loving brother of Tillie Richards and Doris Vigdor; adored grandfather of Eve and Todd Feinsmith, Amy Stern, Rachel and Cory Schauer, Diane and David Ratner, Joshua and Michelle Leventhal, Steven and Lisa Leventhal, and Alyssa Landy and cherished great grandfather of 13.
