  • Our little Mia Bosco got taken from us on Monday because of one extremely ignorant and irresponsible employee of Walk-a-Lu. Kim Feinberg was being paid to take care of these dogs, members of peoples families, but instead she let 4 massive unleashed aggressive dogs out of her car and irrevocably changed the lives of my family. One of he dogs, a bull mastiff ran over to Mia and attacked her, not letting her out of his mouth. Our little Mia is no longer here because of one persons ignorance. It is not the dogs fault but the person who was responsible for these animals who would not even so much as look my family in the eyes and apologize for what had happened. This incident could have easily been prevented if she had these dogs on leashes. Massachusetts law states that all dogs must be on leashes. It could have easily been a child or anyone else's pet. I am absolutely heartbroken and disgusted and something has to be done. The cops said she was cited before for not having many dogs on leashes. Families bring their dogs to Walk-a-Lu in thoughts that their dog will be safe and protected. Kim does not deserve to have this business and people need to know not to bring their dogs to someone who doesn't follow the law. Please let me know if there is anything that you can do to bring some sort of justice for our girl Mia.

    Thank You,

    Lauren Bosco

  • Intolerant position for Revere High
    School.

    Revere High
School demonstrates its ability to stifle political dissent. In Massachusetts, one
of the birthplaces for freedom of speech, Revere High School lashed out at one
of its students for making a political comment. In this age of political
correctness, only speech that is approved by all is allowed.

    Speech is to
be protected…free speech protects all speech ( except the “Fire” examples). If speech is free and protected it cannot be
punished unless by a party that does not respect “free speech” or its intent.
The Revere H.S. had a valuable teaching moment and threw it away. There is
little tolerance if everyone must be the same. Shame on Revere H.S. administration!

By the way, was the student’s statement true? If so,
it speaks poorly for that community as a whole. Little patriotism here it
    seems. Descendants of Tories perhaps?

  • It appears as if the Winthrop Town Council is doing its darndest, perhaps exclusive of Mr. Letteri, to keep as small as possible any group that might show up for a 'public hearing' on the multi-million fiasco that the high school athletic worshipers (note I kept it clean) are pushing for. yes, the current Miller Field is a disgrace. But this town is in the process of building, AND PAYING FOR, a brand new middle-high school. And the greedy folks who think that if they don't pay thousands upon thousands of dollars in property taxes each year, they live in a town that does not measure up to Weston, Harvard or Duxbury. Well, it don't and it is doubtful that it ever will.

A hundred and thirty dollars more added onto the annual tax bill, never mind the tax increase up to at least 2 and a half per cent allowed by law is going to push the annual bill paid by people who own a building assessed at $350,000 or more well over $5,000 a year. And being kept secret by the Town Council is a still unexplained plan to build something at Coughlin Playground - maybe a beach, maybe riprap, maybe a seawall. It is being kept secret, it is being kept secret, both the form the town design gang wants it to appear as, and any cost that might be added to the already too frequently growing tax rate. Why does the Town Council not disclose the Coughlin Playground plan? Who is going to gain from it? It is supposed to be a flood protection scheme, but where else has the town spent big bucks to protect an open space from flooding. Yes, az seawll was built near the late Gov. King's house year ago, but the state paid for it. Who is going to pay for the Coughlin Park white elephant except town taxpayer s? Will the Town Council divulge the truth of that situation even while they are trying to loot our pockets to build a new football firld?

  • I totally disagree with the Winthrop Transcript on their "Things Gone By" for 1997 regarding the "Purple Antelope" (published 12/28/17). The "Purple Antelope" was published when I graduated Winthrop High School In 1970. I agree it was Anti-Vietnam, but it existed. I still have a copy of it. My husband was a Vietnam Vet, as were my brother and a number of my classmates, some of which gave their lives! Please correct this error!
