Jessica Gordon’s Academy of Performing Arts shines atregional dance competition

 Dancers from Winthrop ’s Jessica Gordon’s Academy of Performing Arts delivered an outstanding weekend of performances at the Acceleration Dance Competition Regional, held February 28–29 at The Westin Waltham Boston.

The studio’s competition team, comprised of dancers ages 5 to 19, showcased their talent, dedication, and artistry against strong regional competition, earning top placements, special judges awards, and multiple scholarships.

The Mini Team earned a prestigious Platinum Award for their group performance, demonstrating impressive technique and stage presence at a young age. The Junior/Senior Team routine was selected as one of the Most Entertaining Performances in the 12 and under division, highlighting their energy and audience engagement. The Senior Team was also recognized for their dynamic performance in the 13 and older division and received a Scholarship to Nationals.

Several dancers achieved individual high-score placements. In the Mini division, Alexiyannah Saintcry placed 3rd overall, Capria Buonopane placed 2nd Overall, received a Special Judges Award for “Commanding the Stage,” and was presented with the Dynamic Award — recognizing the highest-scoring Musical Theater routine in the 12 & Under division.

In the Junior division, Aria Gaeta placed 5th overall, Ronni Dimarzo earned 4th overall, and Gioia Heigelmann received 3rd overall along with a full scholarship to the Acceleration Dance Convention this fall.

Senior soloists also delivered impressive results. Gabriella Biancardi was awarded a scholarship to Nationals. Antonia Puopolo placed 10th overall, Jenna DaSilva earned 4th overall, and Jordyn Vazquez captured 1st overall. Vazquez was additionally honored with a special judges award for “Impeccable Storytelling” and received a scholarship to Nationals.

As a studio, Jessica Gordon’s Academy of Performing Arts brought home two Platinum awards, 23 High Gold awards, and two Gold awards.

Studio director Jessica Gordon expressed pride in her dancers’ commitment and teamwork, noting that their hard work in rehearsals continues to translate into confident, polished performances on stage.

With Nationals ahead and continued training throughout the season, the JGAPA competition team looks forward to building on their success in the months to come.
