Her pride was her love of family and friends, as well as her never ending commitment to the Town of Winthrop
Jean (Howard) McNeish of Winthrop passed away peacefully, on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the Katzman Center in Chelsea, Jean lived a loving 99.5 years. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Webster E. and Eleanor (Casey) Howard.
Jean’s pride was her love of family and friends, as well as her never ending commitment to the Town of Winthrop. For 38 years, Jean held an elected position on the Winthrop Housing Authority. She was a board member of the Elder Care Service and was Past President of P.A.L., the Publishers Literary Guild, which her grandmother started in 1902.
Jean married the late Thomas J Donovan in 1949 following WWll, and together they had five children. She was the devoted mother of Trudy (Donovan) Serino of Revere, Stephen Donovan of Maine, Brian Donovan of Winthrop, Christine (Donovan) MacNeil of Winthrop and the late Thomas “Tanka” Donovan. Jean enjoyed being the loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 13 great-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of Webster Howard of New York, Eleanor Howard of Maine and the late Irene Wallace, Elizabeth Hourihan, Barbara Schmidt and Margery Cleary. Jean was a loving aunt to over 60 nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in St, John the Evangelist Church, (St, Michael’s Parish), 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop, on Saturday, June 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be held at a later date.

Rosemarie LeClair

Rosemarie LeClair of Winthrop passed away at home on May 21, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Gaetana “Ida” (Montalto) and Antonio Coviello. She grew up in East Boston before moving to Winthrop 52 years ago. She retired from the phone company following a 30-year career.
She was the devoted wife of the late Nelson LeClair and the loving mother of Paul LeClair and his wife, Patty of Summerville, South Carolina, Ken LeClair and his wife, Nancy of Onset and Janine Acevedo of Lynn; dear sister of the late Anthony Coviello, Lorraine Tunnera and AnnMarie Coviello; cherished grandmother of Jimmy, Frank, Nicole, Brittany, Ross, Amanda and Makenzie; great grandmother of Grayson, Andrew, Reagan, Penelope, Oliver, Quinn, Elliot, Fox and Roe. Rosemarie was the cherished Auntie Ro to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to time with her family and friends, Rosemarie enjoyed bingo, knitting and time in Florida and New Hampshire.
The Funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2025 followed by a funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church. Services concluded with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

James R. Corkhum
Served as Collector of Taxes for the Town of Winthrop for 13 years, member of many town organizations and charities
James R. Corkhum, a lifelong resident of Winthrop, passed away on May 20, 2025 at the age of 90 at the Chestnut Woods Nursing Home in Saugus. He was the son of the late Burton Corkhum, Sr. and Stella (Hinchcliffe) Corkhum. Jim was a Winthrop High School graduate, class of 1953. During his high school years, he won four Ribbons for 1/4 mile victories on the track team and served as class treasurer during his senior year. Jim continued to serve on his class reunion committee for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was first stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska and subsequently in Newport, Rhode Island, working in communications security during his time in the service. Jim worked for the Bank of Boston as a teller for 27 years. In 1980, he was elected to the position of Collector of Taxes for the Town of Winthrop. He remained in that position for 13 years, until his retirement in 1993. He also served as Parking Clerk for two years during his tenure as Tax Collector. Jim was a member of the American Legion in Winthrop and a life member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks. He was a true believer in volunteering his time to lend a helping hand with charities and Town organizations. Jim served as Treasurer of the St. John’s Episcopal Church from 1970 to 1973. He was a Town Meeting member for 12 years. In past years, he served as secretary of the Town Softball League, Treasurer of Civil Defense, Treasurer for Dollars for Scholars and Chairman of the Salvation Army. Jim was an avid bowler for most of his adult life, however, one of his greatest pleasures was watching his three sons bowling in leagues at the Town Line Lanes. He was always proud to brag about their outstanding scores, trophies and several “perfect 300 games,” Throughout his retirement years, Jim always enjoyed getting together with his closest buddies for breakfast at one of their favorite local restaurants. His afternoons were always spent socializing with friends at familiar “hang out” spots around town. Jim was married to Cynthia (Kelsey) Corkhum and they had four children. He was predeceased by his daughter, Judith Merrill. He is survived by his three sons, James W., Kenneth (Meghan) and Scott (Janice), and three grandchildren, Haley, Hannah and Michael Corkhum. He was predeceased by his brothers, Burton, Jr. and Roy Corkhum and his sister, Joan Parma. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Leavy and brother in law, Paul Leavy and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28 followed by a funeral service in the St. John’s Episcopal Church. Services concluded with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop.
