Thomas E. Brazil 

Registered Nurse

Thomas E. Brazil, a veteran and compassionate registered nurse, passed away on October 22, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He was born on October 7, 1944, in Boston.

Thomas bravely served in the Air Force before transitioning to a career in healthcare. After his discharge, he pursued his passion for helping others as a registered nurse in multiple hospitals and nursing homes. Throughout his career, Thomas touched countless lives with his kindness, expertise, and unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to those in need.

Thomas E. Brazil will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. His legacy of compassion and selflessness will continue to inspire and be remembered fondly by all who had the honor of crossing paths with him.

Rest in peace, Thomas E. Brazil. Your kindness and dedication will always be cherished and remembered.

He was the beloved son of the late Mary (Maloney) and Bernard J. Brazil, the dear brother of Catherine Lowney, Ellen Powers, Theresa Brazil, Brian Brazil, John Brazil, Donna Rogers and the late Bernard Brazil, Gerald Brazil, Dorothy Wilkie, Patricia Lennon, Regina Panzini, Anne Marie Brazil, Robert Brazil and Barry Brazil. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, October 24 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.

Robert V. DeBonis, Jr.

He will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering loyalty to this community

Robert V. DeBonis, Jr., a beloved member of the Winthrop community, passed away on October 19, 2024, at the age of 64. He was born on September 22, 1960 and raised in Winthrop, where he left an indelible mark on those around him.

Robert’s passion for football shone brightly from a young age. He attended Winthrop High School, where he excelled on the football field, showcasing his talent and dedication. After graduating in 1978, he continued his football journey at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, embodying the spirit of a true athlete.

Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to excellence, Robert pursued a degree in engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology. His career as an engineer in plumbing at BR+A was marked by professionalism and innovation, earning him respect among his peers.

However, Robert’s love for football never waned. Transitioning from player to coach, he shared his wisdom and passion with the next generation at Saint Dominic Savio High School and Lynnfield High School, leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes.

Beyond the football field, Robert found solace in the tranquility of fishing. His membership in the Winthrop Elks, the Winthrop Yacht Club, and the Winthrop Golf Club spoke to his love for community and camaraderie, where he formed lasting friendships and cherished memories.

Robert V. DeBonis, Jr. will be remembered for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering loyalty to his community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.

He was the loving father of Robert J. DeBonis and the dear brother of Michael DeBonis and his wife, Elke of Winthrop, Laurie Pape and her husband, Kevin of Swampscott and Matthew DeBonis of Delray Beach, Florida; beloved son of the late Jacquelyn (Slaney) and Robert V. DeBonis, Sr. and the former husband of Melinda (Maloney). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
