WHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee Announces 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
Robert DeGregorio, President of the Winthrop High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, is pleased to announce that the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
wil take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Winthrop Lodge of Elks, 191 Washington Avenue, Winthrop, MA 02152. The doors will open at 5pm with a dinner buffet beginning at 5:30pm, followed by the induction ceremony at 7pm.
DeGregorio declared that the Induction Ceremony will begin at 7pm. He stated, “We have chosen nine (9) individuals who have made significant contributions to the Winthrop High School athletic program over the years, either as athletes or as coaches, and one (1) team.”
The eight (8) individuals (and their Winthrop High School graduation year) chosen for their athletic accomplishments are as follows: Maria Gambale Currier (1998), Jenny
Fucillo Golic (2010), Jarrett Herdt (2006), Joseph Kearns (1993), Douglas Milne (1963), Daniel Morgan (1980), Sal Tiano (1984), and Keith Welch (1976).
The Head Coach selected is Mr. Warren MacPhail (1986) for his contributions to the Winthrop High School Athletic Program coaching track and field, and cross country for 30 years.
The one (1) team chosen for its athletic success is the 1981 Winthrop High School State Champion Baseball Team, Head Coach Barry Rosen, Assistant Coach Ed Morrison, Assistant Coach Anthony Fucillo, and Assistant Coach Jay Guthro.

Tickets for the 15” Winthrop High School Athletic Hal of Fame Induction Ceremony are S50 each and will be on sale starting Monday, September 30, 2024. You can purchase the tickets in person or by mailing a check to the office of Robert DeGregorio, 220 Winthrop Street, Suite 302, Winthrop, MA 02152; office hours will be Monday-Friday, 1pm-4:30pm, starting Monday, September 30, 2024. Payment by check is preferred and the check should be made out to the Winthrop High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee Inc. Cash will also be accepted. No credit card payments will be accepted.
