WIHA Announces 110th Annual Strawberry Festival

Special to the Transcript

The Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association (WIHA) is pleased to announce that the 110th Strawberry Festival will be held on Saturday, June 15th rain or shine. The festival’s hours are from 2-6 pm in the Deane Winthrop Gardens, 40 Shirley Street, Winthrop, MA.

Come join us for a true Winthrop tradition dating back to 1912. The $10 price of admission entitles you to a serving of our signature Strawberry Shortcake.   As we did last year, we will offer Craft Beer from the Drop Zone Brewery and our own Strawberry Festival Daiquiris. New to the Festival this year will be food prepared by Ferrante’s. The beverages and food will be available for additional charges.

The historic 375-year-old Deane Winthrop House will be open that day for touring. We’ll have Strawberry Festival raffles, games for the kids, an area for photo ops, music provided by both the Boston Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and the Boston Harbor Bhoys. We have rented a large tent to protect everyone from the weather.

We love our furry friends, but we ask you to leave your pets at home. The Festival is not pet-friendly. Thank you for understanding.

Tickets are available at Webster First Federal Credit Union, the Winthrop Public Library, Shirley True Value Hardware, Woodside Ace Hardware, the Winthrop Chamber of Commerce, The Winthrop Book Depot and Café, Simon’s Winthrop Book Store, Salon Luxo, Swetts Liquors, The Meat Market, the E.B. Newton Clock Tower Gallery, and The Senior Center. For more information, please visit the official Winthrop Improvement & Historical Association Facebook page.

We could not have a Strawberry Festival without the help of our Sponsors. Our Sponsors will be honored with signage in our yard at the event. We would like to especially thank Webster First Federal Credit Union for always supporting us; the Paul W. Marks Company for donating the delicious strawberries and fresh cream; and the Winthrop Marketplace for donating the fabulous biscuits.

See you at the Strawberry Festival!
