Meat Market Owners Thank Town, Customers for Support

When plans were first announced to build a new fire station on the site of the Wadsworth Building and Kirby Funeral Home, one of the big questions was the future of the businesses in the buildings, including the popular Meat Market.

Town officials have been working with the Meat Market and other tenants to help them relocate if the November 7 debt exclusion vote to build a new fire station passes.

At a public hearing Tuesday night, Town Council President Jim Letterie said the town should be ready to discuss more concrete plans for the relocation of the Meat Market and other businesses soon.

In addition, Meat Market owners Patsy and Sando Cimino submitted a letter to the Fire House Building Committee in favor of the new fire station plans that was read at Tuesday night’s meeting.

“To our loyal friends and community, thank you for your ongoing support these past few months as we learn more about the future of our family business,” stated the Ciminos. “We are happy to share with you that we have been actively working in good faith with the town to come to a resolution together where we can continue to come to a resolution together.”

The Ciminos stated they are confident that they can make a plan to stay in Winthrop and continue to serve the community and partner with the town at community events.

“The Meat Market continues to support local Winthrop firefighters and their pursuit of a new fire station in any way we can,” the owners continued. “Thank you to the town for their continued and open dialogue and to our customers for their ongoing support.”

Letterie said he couldn’t go into any more details about potential relocation plans, but said there would be more to come shortly.

He also thanked Town Manager Tony Marino for his efforts in working with the tenants of the Wadsworth Building, and to the Ciminos for their willingness to work with the town.
