Precinct 2 Councilor John Munson hosted a campaign reception Sept. 14 at his Beacon Photography and Framing business located at 196 Winthrop Street.
The Town Council selected Munson to fill a vacancy for the Precinct 2 position in January, 2022. Munson is now seeking a four-year term in the general election on November 7, 2023.
Precinct 6 Councilor Stephen Ruggiero introduced Munson for his remarks.
“I’m here to introduce my good friend, John Munson, who’s running for re-election,” said Ruggiero.
A 1995 graduate of the University of Michigan Munson thanked his many friends, Council colleagues, and family for their support. He also spoke about his many accomplishments in office and his goals for the future.
Munson told the large gathering that he is “an ideal candidate to stay on board” on the Town Council.
“Part of it is that I’m not just a regular politician, that’s not what I ever wanted to do,” said Munson. “I’m actually a family man. I’m a businessman here in town. [My service] on the Council is more about giving back to the community. I do like giving back, and it’s something I always wanted to do.”
Munson has resided in Winthrop since 2004. He has been the owner of Beacon Photography since 2007. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Cottage Park Yacht Club, and the Winthrop Art Association, and has coached in various youth sports programs in town.
