John Rush Sr.

Owner of North Shore Dairy

John C. Rush Sr. of Winthrop passed away on December 28 at the age of 90.

John was the cherished son of the late Edward and Christina (Dee) Rush of Charlestown.

John grew up in Charlestown and Vermont. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1949-1952. During his life he was the director of three websites where he made many good friends. John was the owner of North Shore Dairy. He was loved by all and he is now resting in the Kingdom of God.

John is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline M. (Reilly) Rush of Winthrop and his sons: John Rush Jr. of Murray, UT, Mark Rush of Hope Mills, NC and the late Matt Rush, Michael Rush and Andrea M. (Rush) Melanson. He was the very proud grandfather of Jake, Nick, Reilly, Christina, Lorenzo, Mike, Andrew, Chris, Tyler and Savannah.

John’s funeral service will be private for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute 450 Brookline Ave. Boston, MA. 02215 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN. 38105.

Theresa Martino

Retired Bookkeeper

Theresa J. (Lagana) Martino of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 27 at the age of 94.

Theresa was a past member of St. John’s Mothers Club and Sons of Italy Winthrop Lodge. Past bookkeeper for over 52 years of MP & Co. Tax and Financial Services.

The beloved wife of the late Ferdinand “Freddy” Martino, she was the devoted mother of Elisa Clancy and her husband, William ofEast Schodack, NY, Ferdinand Martino and his wife, JoAnne of Winthrop, Andrea Fonte and her husband, William of Quincy and Christopher Martino and his wife, Rachael of Concord; loving twin sister of Nancy Savoia of Concord and the late Joseph, John and Anthony Lagana and Frances Previte; cherished grandmother of Angela, Lauren, Jennifer, Kristen, Jonathan, Samuel, Anthony, Andrew, Roxanne and Michael and adored great-grandmother of Marielle, Joseph, Leo and Freddie.

She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Ruggiero Family  Memorial Home, East  Boston.  

Theresa was laid to rest at  Winthrop Cemetery, Belle Isle.

Vincenzo Dimino

Of Medford, formerly of Winthrop

Vincenzo Dimino of Melrose, formerly of Winthrop, passed away on Thursday, December 29 at the age of 87 after a long battle with Dementia. He was very much loved and will forever be in our hearts.

The beloved husband of Mary (Goddard) Dimino, he was the loving father of Rosella (Dimino) Norton and her husband, Mike Norton of Somers, NY,  Steven Dimino and his fiancé, Tracey Stolpner of Norton, MA, and Joseph and wife Beth Dimino of York, Maine; cherished Nonno of Alexa Norton and Jenna Norton, Stephanie Dimino and her fiancé, Adam Webster, James Dimino, Sophia Dimino, Thomas Dimino, Joseph Jr. and his wife, Abby Dimino, Alex Dimino and Christopher Dimino and two great grandchildren; Aspyn Webster and Mason Dimino.  The eldest son of the deceased Giuseppe and Rosa Dimino of Sciacca, Italy, he is also lovingly survived by his four sisters residing in Sciacca, Italy: Maria Cascio, Sina Friscia, Enza Bentivegna and Caterina Rapisarda and his deceased brother Calogero Dimino and sister Rosa Guardino.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Thursday, January 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will be held in his honor in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 12 Noon. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Linda Doherty

Retired Eaton Vance Financial Librarian

Linda A. (Neville) Doherty of Winthrop, formerly of Revere, passed away on January 1. She was 75 years old.

The beloved wife of 51 years to Cornelius J. Doherty, she was born in Boston, the cherished daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Palmgren) Neville.

Linda was happily employed for 36 years as a Financial Librarian for the Eaton Vance Investment Co. of Boston. She loved spending time with her family, reading, traveling, telling amazing stories, attending theatre/shows and watching her kids and grandkids play sports.

Linda was the devoted mother of Shannon E. Doherty of Revere and Todd N. Doherty and his wife, Jessica of Lynnfield. She was the adored grandmother of Hannah and Brandon Doherty. She was the dear sister in law to Ann Marie Jenkins and loving aunt to Jeremy Jenkins.

Visiting hours will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St.,

Winthrop on Monday, January 9  from 4 to 8 p.m. Linda’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) 320 Winthrop St. ,Winthrop on Tuesday, January 10  at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Please go directly to church. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section).

Barbara Alioto

March 31, 1931 – December 28, 2022

Barbara M. (Thornton) Alioto of Winthrop died on December 28.

The devoted wife of the late Victor A. Alioto, Sr., she was the loving mother of Barbara and Gary Whiting of Arizona, Victor A. Alioto, Jr. of Revere, Donna and Michael Eruzione of Winthrop, Mark Alioto of Winthrop, Stephen and Donna Alioto of Winthrop, Susan and Andy Tapparo of Topsfield, Debbie and John Oliver of Winthrop, Patty and Tommy DiBenedetto of Winthrop, Mary Alioto and Rodney Leach of Winthrop, Michael and Jenn Alioto of Winthrop, Danny and Susan Alioto of Winthrop and the late Paul Alioto and David Alioto and his wife, Dena of Winthrop; dear sister of the late Dorothy Caggiano and Virginia Hansford. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Saturday, Dec 31 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev Christopher O’Connor celebrated the mass and offered prayers at the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
