Maureen Gill Was a Great Lady

Winthrop lost one of our community’s best this past week with the passing of Maureen Gill, the wife of former Town Council President Peter Gill and mother of Supt. of Schools Lisa Gill Howard.

Maureen was the mother of four children, grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of one. She  truly was a bright light for all who were blessed to know her. Maureen was a wonderful and vivacious woman who loved music and dancing.

Her son, Brian, delivered a beautiful eulogy about his mother at the funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church on Tuesday. He told of how she set such a great example for everyone in the family with her kindness and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.

“A true love story from Day 1,” is how Brian described his parents’ many years of marriage.

We know we join with all of our fellow residents in offering our condolences to her husband Peter and children Lisa, Brian, Gretchen, and Brendan.

May she rest in peace.
