Patricia McPhail

Being a Wife and Mom Was Her Greatest and Happiest Achievement

Patricia M. (Murray) McPhail, 73, of Billerica, formerly of Winthrop, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, April 16 surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with metastatic cancer.

Patricia was born on October 23, 1948 in Winthrop, the cherished daughter of the late John and Josephine (Vincenti) Murray.      

She grew up in Winthrop and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy in Brighton.

Patty treasured time spent with her family, especially her three grandchildren. More than anything, Patty cherished spending time supporting the many activities of her children and grandchildren.

Being a wife and Mom was her greatest and happiest achievement.

She will be remembered most for her kindness and dedication to her family and their friends.

Patty was a devoted wife of 51 years to her husband, John and beloved mother to her four children: Michael McPhail and his wife, Patty of Beverly, Lisa McPhail of Wilmington, Danielle Jamieson and her husband, Danny of Andover and Brian McPhail and his wife, Kristen of Pepperell. She was also an adoring Grammy to Nathan, Leah and Henry McPhail.

Patricia is survived by her dear brother, Bill Murray and his wife, Denise of Danville, NH, special sister-in-law, Shayne Reardon of Billerica, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her brother, John Murray, Jr.

Family and friends will gather at the Burns Funeral Home, 354 Boston Road, (Rt 3A), Billerica, today, Thursday, April 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Her Funeral will be held from the Burns Funeral Home on Friday, April 22 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at     St. Matthew Evangelist Parish at  St. Theresa’s Church, 466 Boston Rd, Billerica at 10 a.m.       

Interment, Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica. Patricia’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the MGH Cancer Center as well as the nurses of Beacon Hospice for their extraordinary care throughout her illness.

Myrteza Cakalli

Of Winthrop, formerly of Albania and Greece

Myrteza Cakalli of Winthrop passed away at the Boston Medical Center on April 18. He was 64 years old.

Born in Albania, the beloved son of the late Xhevaire and Muhamed Cakalli, he grew up in Albania before moving to Greece where he worked as a farmer. He has resided in Winthrop for over three years.

He was the devoted husband of Nafije (Sanxhaku) and the loving father of Valbona Vidhi of Albania and Frisida Sinani of Winthrop; cherished grandfather of Kevin, Enida and Albi.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Thursday, April 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. The family will gather at the funeral home on Friday, April 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. and then process to the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Patricia Ann Corkhum

Devout Christian and AT&T Retiree

Patricia Ann (Hurley) Corkhum of Winthrop passed away peacefully at home on April 18 at 90 years young. 

She was a devout Christian, who grew up in the area known as Point Shirley. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Corkhum, Sr. and the daughter of the late James and Anne(Culleton) Hurley.  Pat was the cherished mother of Paul, Jr. (Allan), Philip (Paula), Kevin (Wendy), Patrick (Debra), Kathleen, Gordon (Suzi), James, Ann-Margret (Michael) and Maryellen; the loving Grand-MA of Joshua, Lindsay, Christa, Ruby, Adam and Nathan and the dear sister of Paul (Sherry) Hurley and sister-in-law of Joyce Hurley and is also survived by her devoted friend and home health aide, Shirley. She was predeceased in death by her son, Peter, her sisters, Margaret Malone, Mary Rice and Anne Socha and her brothers, Daniel, James, Edward, Michael, Gerald and Thomas. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pat was a working Mom at AT&T, where she worked for over 25 years. She treasured watching daily Mass, her favorite TV shows, all of the BIG GAMES and spending time surrounded by her family celebrating holidays and the many birthday parties.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Sunday, April 24 from 3 to 7 p.m.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia’s memory may be made to St Michael’s Parish 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop MA 02152.

Mary Tarsi

Lifelong Winthrop Resident

Mary T. Tarsi of Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on April 16. She was 76 years old.

Born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, she was the beloved daughter of the late Blanche (Brozowski) and Philip Genovese. A life-long resident of Winthrop, she worked as a customer service representative for Wallace Silversmith in East Boston prior to her retirement.

She was wife of Peter J. Tarsi, Sr. and the loving mother of Peter J. Tarsi, Jr. of Seekonk, Paula Gifford and her husband, Jamie of Winthrop and Philip Tarsi and his wife, Rebecca of Myrtle Beach; dear sister of Robert Genovese and his wife, Sharon of Saugus and sister-in-law of Adele Keohane and Michael Tarsi; cherished grandmother of Tyler, Calliope, Philip John, Meredith, Marina and Anthony. She is also survived by many family members, friends, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held in the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Wednesday, April 20. Committal was private.
