Construction Updates: Town Posts General Construction Updates

National Grid Utility Project on Revere St.

National Grid is working in the area of Revere Street to remove and replace older cable lines responsible with delivering electricity to Winthrop.

This week the crews focused on Winthrop Street and Argyle Streets as well as trenching between 321 Revere St. at the intersection of Revere Street and Crest Avenue.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 18 and going through Friday, Oct. 22, crews will be working on Argyle Street, as well as trenching between 284 Revere St. at the intersection of Revere Street and Crest Avenue.

CBD Contruction Look-Ahead

The following is a summary of the work completed this week and the work P. Gioioso & Sons, Inc. (contractor) has scheduled for the next two weeks for the Center Business District (CBD) construction. Please note, the anticipated schedule may vary due to unforeseen site conditions, weather conditions, or other factors out of the contractor’s control.

Construction

Updates and Schedule:

October 11 to October 15, 2021:

• No construction occured on Monday, October 11th, in recognition of Indigenous Peoples Day.

Scheduled Work:

• Continue installation of drain and water infrastructure in French Square.

• Continue installation of electric conduit and pole bases in French Square.

• Continue installation of new concrete sidewalks/driveways on Woodside Avenue, between French Square and Pleasant Street.

• Begin installation of new concrete sidewalks/driveways on Woodside Avenue, between Pauline Street and French Square.

• Continue installation of new granite curb on Woodside Avenue, between Pauline Street and French Square; and begin installing new granite curb in French Square.

• Begin installation of new granite curb on Hagman Road.

Oct. 18 to Oct. 22, 2021:

Scheduled Work:

• Continue installation of drain and water infrastructure in French Square.

• Continue installation of electric conduit and pole bases in French Square.

• Continue installation of new concrete sidewalks/driveways on Woodside Avenue, between Pauline Street and French Square.

• Continue installation of new granite curb on Hagman Road.

Traffic Management (M-F, 7 AM to 4 PM):

The CBD can be accessed from Somerset Avenue, Cottage Park Road, Woodside Avenue (from Pleasant Street), and Jefferson Street during construction hours (7 AM to 4 PM). Hagman Road, Bartlett Road and Jefferson Street will be open during construction hours (7 AM to 4 PM) to exit the CBD.

Woodside Avenue will be closed at Pleasant Street.

For Work being performed in French Square, streets within the immediate work area will be posted no parking 48 hours in advance of work. Localized road shutdowns will be coordinated with the Owner as required. Access and egress into French Square will be maintained throughout scheduled work. Please note, the temporary parking lot in French Square has been demolished to begin construction of the new French Square (See notice below).

Notice:

The temporary parking lot in French Square is permanently closed due to construction of the new French Square. Street parking is available. A portion of the parking lot next to Citizens Bank will also be open for parking as well as parking lots along Pauline Street, Walden Street and Putnam Street.
