WHS Graduation Set for Friday Night at Miller Field

More than 145 Winthrop High School seniors will receive their diplomas at the Class of 2021 graduation exercises Friday (6 p.m.) at Miller Field.

Class President Jenna Dorr, Vice President Maura Dorr (Jenna’s twin sister), Secretary Rachel Farley, Treasurer Grace Galuris, Class Marshal Bryan Conceicao, and Videographer Stephen Perullo will lead the procession of graduates onto Miller Field. As Class Marshal, Conceicao has the official honor.

Supt. of Winthrop Schools Lisa Howard and Winthrop High School Principal Matt Crombie will present diplomas to the graduates. Assistant Principal Michael Capasso will announce the list of graduates.

Town Council President Phil Boncore, Interim Town Manager Terence Delehanty, School Committee Chair Brian Perrin, State Sen. Joseph Boncore, State Rep. Jeffrey Turco and Fire Chief Paul Flanagan head the list of town dignitaries that will be present at the ceremonies.

 Jami Snow, the top-ranked student academically in the Class of 2021, will deliver the valedictory address. Colleen Whittaker, the second-ranked student academically in the Class of 2021, will deliver the salutatory address.

Jenna Dorr will deliver the presidential address. Bryan Conceicao will lead the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Major scholarships and awards will be presented during the program. The Bentley Swift Memorial Cup and the Wallace B. MacLean Athletic Trophy will be awarded to the most outstanding male and female athletes respectively in the Class of 2021.

Despite the unprecedented times of the COVID-19 pandemic that dramatically affected the final two years of their high school careers, the Class of 2021 graduates showed their resiliency and continued to achieve excellence in academics, athletics, extracurricular school activities, and community service. The graduates will now begin the next chapter in their lives.
