CASA Receives Grant for Youthworks

CASA (Community Action for Safe Alternatives) recently received funding from the Afterschool and Out-of-School Time (ASOST) Quality Enhancements Fund to support the Winthrop Youthworks Program. The additional resources will be used to enhance the Job Readiness Program for Winthrop High School students in their sophomore, junior, or senior year (must be 16-years-old).

Thanks to the funds, CASA was able to hire Jen Reth to take on the role of Youthworks Director. Reth will provide Soft Skills Job Readiness Training for students through Junior Achievement, a nationally known research-based curriculum. As part of the program, each student will receive CPR and First Aid Training certification, individual support with their career readiness plan, and an opportunity to job shadow at a local business.
