The following incident reports are among the calls to which the Winthrop Police Department responded on the listed dates:

MONDAY, SEPT. 28

An officer issued a parking ticket to a motor vehicle (MV) that had been parked overnight in the 15 minute-only zone in the 200 block of Shirley St.

A resident reported that her dog had been missing for three days and she thinks it may have been stolen.

An officer responded to a motor vehicle accident (MVA) in the 200 block of Pleasant St. in which one vehicle rear-ended the other. There was damage to both vehicles. The officer filed a report.

An officer responded to a MVA on Sturgis St. There was minor damage to both vehicles and the officer assisted the parties with the exchange of papers.

An officer ordered a tow for a MV with an expired registration that was parked in a handicapped space on Locust St.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 29

An officer had the owners of two vehicles that were blocking the entrance to the fire station on Shirley St. move their vehicles. The owners were working on Ocean Ave.

An officer stopped a MV on Franklin St. and arrested the operator, Jason W. McGrath, 40, of 36 Elmwood Ave., for the criminal offenses of unlicensed operation of a MV and illegal possession of a Class C controlled narcotic substance with intent to distribute.

Engine 1 of the Winthrop Fire Dept. reported finding a stray dog. The owner was contacted and came to the station to get it.

A caller reported that he had struck a parked MV on Forrest St., but was unable to locate the owner of the other MV. The officer provided assistance and filed a report.

An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Pleasant and Sargent Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of a red light violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2321: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Shore Drive and Coral Ave. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of an equipment violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2358: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Main and Beal Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of a red light violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 30

0026: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Main and Marshall Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of an equipment violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

0051: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Main and Beal Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of an equipment violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

1023: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Main and Walden Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of a marked lanes violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

A construction truck struck a parked MV in the vicinity of Shirley St. and River Rd. The officer assisted the parties with the exchange of papers.

A resident called the station to report that his identity had been used fraudulently in an attempt to file an unemployment claim.

An officer stopped a MV in the 600 block of Shirley St. for the civil infractions of speeding and an equipment violation. When the officer determined that the operator’s license had been suspended and that the insurance for the vehicle had been revoked, the officer issued a citation to the operator for the criminal offenses and the civil infractions. The MV was towed.

An officer reported that graffiti had been written all over the gazebo on Morton St.

1700: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Tafts Ave. and Otis St. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of speeding. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

A caller reported a large group of youths were in Ingleside Park without masks. The officer directed all of the youths to put on their masks.

2030: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Winthrop and Belcher Sts. for a civil motor vehicle infraction and gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2130: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Bayou and Revere Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of not having its lights turned on. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

An officer responded to a report of a boat at the Atlantis Marina playing music loudly. The boat owner was cleaning his boat and he agreed to turn down his music.

THURSDAY, OCT. 1

A repossession company reported the repo of a motor vehicle on Cutler St.

An officer issued a parking ticket to a MV without a resident parking sticker on Sea Foam Ave.

An officer found a loose dog on Buchanan St. The Animal Control Officer (ACO) took possession of the dog and reunited it with its owner.

A tow was ordered for a MV that was parked in the construction zone at Wheelock St. and Waldemar Ave.

A resident at the Ft. Heath apartments reported a break into her MV overnight.

A resident in the 100 block of Washington Ave. reported that a MV had struck a fire hydrant, knocking it over, and then fled the scene. The DPW was called to repair the hydrant. An officer located the alleged offending MV based on a description provided by the witness The operator was transported to the hospital and was issued a citation for civil and criminal offenses.

An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Shore Drive and Trident Ave. The operator was issued a citation for the criminal offense of operating a MV with a suspended license. The owner of the MV took control of the vehicle.

A caller reported that a MV that had been attempting to park in a space on Nevada St. had struck two parked vehicles and then fled the scene. The officer located the operator, who said she had been unaware that she had struck any other vehicles, and brought her back to the scene to exchange papers.

An officer responded to a report of a MV blocking a driveway on Thornton Park and issued a parking ticket to the vehicle.

1937: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. for a civil motor vehicle infraction and gave a verbal warning to the operator. The officer also advised the operator, who recently had moved here from Texas, of the need to update all of his information with the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

2007: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Revere and Hutchinson Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of a red light violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2030: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Revere St. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of not having its lights turned on. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

A Woodside Ave. resident reported that a neighbor’s dog was outside and incessantly barking and crying. The officer who responded determined that the dog was inside the house with the windows open, but no one was home.

A Shirley St. resident reported that a package delivered by Amazon had been stolen from her steps.

An officer directed a loud family gathering in the 300 block of Winthrop St. to turn off their music for the night.

2138: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Beacon St. and Shore Dr. for a civil motor vehicle infraction and gave a verbal warning to the operator.

2157: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Main and Pleasant Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of speeding. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

FRIDAY, OCT. 2

An officer issued parking tickets to two vehicles parked in the No Parking zone in the construction area at Tewksbury and Shirley Sts. 

1427: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Cross St. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of an equipment violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

A Prospect Ave. resident reported that the rear window of his MV had been damaged.

1812: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) at Grovers and Crest Aves. The officer determined that the operator’s license had been suspended and issued a citation for the criminal offense of operating a MV with a suspended license. A licensed operator arrived at the scene and was able to take control of the MV.

A raccoon whose head had become stuck in a sewer drain on Court Rd. was set free by Fire Dept. personnel.

An officer moved along a group of unruly youths from the gazebo at Ingleside Park.

An officer assisted the owner of a disabled MV at Washington Ave. and Veterans Rd. while she awaited the arrival of AAA.

An officer stopped a MV at George St. and Winthrop St. The insurance of the MV had been revoked and was moved onto private property.

An officer responded to a report of a party with loud music at a Pleasant St. residence. The officer directed the party-goers to turn down their music for the night.

2330: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Revere St. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of having illegal lights. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

An officer stopped a MV at Short Beach for trespassing after dark and gave a verbal warning to the operator.

SATURDAY, OCT.  3

0018: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Revere and Bayou Sts. for the civil motor vehicle infractions of a loud exhaust and aftermarket tail lights. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

An officer broke up a loud party at an Argyle St. residence.

0024: An officer stopped a motor vehicle (MV) on Main St. and Amelia Ave. for the civil motor vehicle infraction of an equipment violation. The officer gave a verbal warning to the operator.

A resident came into the station to report that her identity had been used fraudulently to file an unemployment claim.

SUNDAY, OCT. 4

An officer had the owners of two motor vehicles that were blocking the roadway at Almont and Cross Sts. move their vehicles.

An officer assisted the owner of a MV with a flat tire in the 500 block of Shirley St. until AAA arrived.

A Hawthorn Ave. resident came into the station to report that her MV was missing from where she had last parked it. A computer check by the officer revealed that the MV had been left abandoned on Rt. 1A with front end damage and had been towed by Perfection Towing in Watertown.

A resident reported that the vehicles belonging to her boyfriend and herself had been keyed overnight while parked on Shirley St.

An officer assisted with a disabled MV with a flat tire on Main St. until the tire was changed.

A Shirley St. resident reported that her MV had been keyed the previous night.

MONDAY, OCT. 5

An officer dispersed two persons in a MV from Hannaford Park.
