Drive-thru COVID-19 Testing

Dear Editor,

I got my COVID 19 test via the “drive through” set up at the E.B. Newton School.  I want to personally thank Winthrop officials– Town Manger Faison, Town Council President Boncore, the entire Town Council, Health Director Meredith Hurley, and the Winthrop Board of Health who partnered with state officials to make this essential testing possible.  My additional thanks to Governor Charlie Baker, House Speaker Bob DeLeo, Senator Joe Boncore and the entire Mass legislature for affording “red zone” Winthrop a means of testing and tracking this terrible virus.

Special thanks to the EMT’s from Fallon Emergency Medical Service.  They all were so very polite, professional, and competent in overseeing the testing.  I felt we were all in good hands.

Drive through COVID testing is available M, W, F, and Saturday, 2-7 p.m., at the EB Newton School, 45 Pauline Street.   Walk up testing takes place on T and Thursday, 2-7 p.m., at the Newton School.  Testing is in English and Spanish, and continues through at least September 12.  Questions, call 617-846-1740.
