Thomas J. McHugh

Photography Enthusiast and Member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club

Thomas J. McHugh of Winthrop passed away at the Chelsea Soldiers Home on March 24, 2020. He was 82 years old.

The beloved husband of Nancy M. (Mahoney) McHugh, Tom was born in Waltham, the cherished son of the late Thomas W. and Rose M. (Buckley) McHugh.

Thomas was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1957-59. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Watertown and the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop. Tom had a love and dedication for photography. He would always have his camera available and ready to go at family gatherings, functions, the Cottage Park Yacht Club or anywhere where he could take that perfect “shot” or memory picture for all to share and enjoy.

Thomas was the devoted father of Thomas M. McHugh of San Francisco, CA., Joanne Stafford of Wilmington, Maureen E. Jones of Chelsea, Christine M. Sirard and her husband, John of Amherst and Brian J. McHugh and his wife, Courtnay of Portland, OR; adored grandfather of Steven Jones, Chris, Melissa and Calvin Stafford, Hannah and Michael Sirard and Evan and Jack McHugh and dear brother of Helen Thompson of Watertown, Richard McHugh of Woburn, David McHugh of Maine and the late Rose Young. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory can be made to the Chelsea Soldiers Home 91 Crest Ave. Chelsea, MA. 02150.

Harris Zeltsar

Of Winthrop

Harris Zeltsar of Winthrop passed away suddenly at the age of 78 on March 26, 2020.

The devoted husband of the late Elaine Saks, he was the beloved father of Cynthia and Michael Ganse of Saugus and Michelle and Scott Shylanski of Coventry, RI, adored grandfather of Michael Ganse, Ashley and Alexis Shylanski and dear brother of Marc Zeltsar of Florida.

Due to the extreme circumstances surrounding the Corona-virus, Harris will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Elaine. Services/Shiva will be announced at a later date when family and friends can attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be donated to the charity of one’s choice. Leopold Buono

Of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston

Leopold A. “Leo” “Butchie” Buono of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away on March 28.

He was the beloved husband of Claire (Gillis) Buono, loving father of Tara Buono Stackhouse, Jillian Emma Buono and  Nicholas Leo Buono, all of Winthrop; dear brother of Francine Billet of New York, James Buono and his wife, Rita of East Boston and Rosalind Faretra and her husband, Joseph of Winthrop. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren: Nicolette Stackhouse, Jaden – Helen Stackhouse and Michael Stackhouse and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Butchie will be laid to rest on Friday April 3, 2020.

In accordance with the CDC, Mass. Department of Public Health, Archdiocese of Boston guidelines and local restrictions on gatherings and congregations due to COVID-19, all services will be held for the immediate family privately.
