Eastie’s Santarpio’s Pizza Now Delivering

In its 117 year old history the famed Santarpio’s Pizza on the corner of Chelsea and Porter Streets has never delivered.

The no-frills pizza joint that serves up pizza and BBQ lamb, sausage and steak tips is known for its long lines of hungry patrons waiting to feast upon the fare that has made it a staple in East Boston and beyond.

However, the COVID-19 epidemic has made Santarpio’s and other local restaurants shift to take out and delivery operations as dine-in service was suspended throughout Boston and the state.

The Santarpio family made the announcement on social media last week. The staff that usually works inside slinging pizzas to customers sitting in booths surrounded by boxing memorabilia are now driving the pizzas directly to customers.

“We are delivering to East Boston, Winthrop and Beachmont, Revere for now,” said owner Frank Santarpio. “We also have delivery available on the GrubHub food delivery app.”

Customers can call 617-567-9871 for delivery or download the GrubHub app on their smartphones to order up a hot fresh Santarpio’s pizza. As always, customers can also pick up their pizzas at Santarpio’s side door on Porter Street.

Aside from adding a delivery option for the first time Santarpio’s has also been donating pizzas to those on the front lines fighting the COVID-19 outbreak as well as organizations feeding those in need.

“We also donated pizzas to the Fire Departments in East Boston, the officers at District A-7 and the East Boston Community Soup Kitchen,” said Santarpio. “This week we hope to serve the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center and the city employees that are still working throughout this epidemic.”
