Carsley to Have Principal Role in Theatre Production

The School of the Arts at Dean College will perform Thoroughly Modern Millie beginning Wednesday, April 1 through Sunday April 5, 2020.

Elizabeth Carsley of Winthrop will have a principal role in the production.

Based on the 1967 movie of the same name, the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie returns us to the height of the Jazz Age. The streets and speakeasies of New York were filled with “Swells” and their flapper “Moderns.” A world of bathtub gin, bobbed hair, shortened hemlines and high spirits gave birth to Millie Dillmount, the type of young woman who eventually changes the rules of life and love. A lyrical musical confection, Thoroughly Modern Millie offers high spirited dance numbers, robust comic scenes and magical songs, while paying tribute to the spirit of New York and the individuals who seek to discover themselves there. Music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by Dick Scanlan. Book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan.

The Dean College production of Thoroughly Modern Millie will take place in the Main Stage in the Campus Center at Dean College, 109 West Central Street, Franklin at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday and 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. General admission is $22, Seniors $12 and Children $7.
