School Supply Drive to be Held Aug. 17

Two Winthrop students are showing that you are never too young to help.

Gabby and Joseph Shea are hosting a School Supply Drive on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Arthur T. Cummings loop.  Their mission is to help fellow students defray the cost of school supplies

“We are asking the community to help support students in need and donate some of the required school supplies,” said Gabby, who is a member of the middle school student council and going into seventh grade. Her younger brother, Joseph will be heading into first grade in September.

Items will be collected and presented to the Superintendent of Schools for proper distribution to the school principals. There is also a collection box at the Coldwell Banker office at 218 Winthrop St.

“Gabby and Joseph came up with the idea on their own and we are hoping it ends up becoming an annual event,” said mom and member of the Gorman Fort Banks PTO, Christa Shea.

The Shea siblings are requesting the following items to help other students start the new school year off successfully:

Backpacks (no wheels please)

Pens and pencils
