Carter Bibbey

American Airlines retiree and former head of security at Logan Airport

Carter S. Bibbey of Winthrop passed away at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers on June 14. He was 75 years old.

Born in Chelsea, the son of the late George and Agnes (Butler) Bibbey, he was the dear brother of the late Bonnie, Bruce and Kenney Bibbey.

Prior to his retirement, Carter was employed by American Airlines as a customer service representative. Following his employment at American Airlines, Carter was head of

Security for Logan Airport and also worked in the security office at the Suffolk Downs Racetrack. He was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club.

His funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St.. Winthrop, today, Thursday, June 20 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church-Winthrop at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment

Christopher Crosby

Member of Cottage Park Yacht Club

Christopher Crosby of Winthrop, passed away suddenly on June 11. He was 56 years old.

Chris was a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop. He had a passion for sailing and spent many days in the summer aboard his sailboat the “Iphigenia.” He also enjoyed studying genealogy.

He was the cherished son of Nancy M. (Marsh) Clarke and her husband, Robert of Winthrop and Paul A. Crosby and his wife, Ann of Bridgewater; loving companion of

Priscilla Riley of Randolph, dear brother of the late Kevin Crosby and Rebecca Barasano and her husband, Dennis of Arizona and the husband of the late Maryanne (McDonough) Crosby. He is also survived by his three nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements were by the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, Winthrop. Interment was in Winthrop Cemetery.

Harold ‘Harry’ Kanall

Retired Winthrop firefighter

Harold “Harry” Kanall of Tileston Rd., Winthrop passed away at The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover on June 10. He was 93 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Agnes (Kelly) and Paul T. Kanall, he was a l longtime resident of Winthrop.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and served as a mechanic reaching the rank of corporal. After his honorable discharge, he went on to become a firefighter for the Winthrop Fire Department. He along with his brother were the co-owners of the Band Box Lounge in Kenmore Square.

He was the devoted husband of the late Ellen G. (Toomey) and the loving father of Marion Kanall of Brighton, Nancy Smith and her husband, Thorne of Peabody and Paula LaMonica and her husband, Joseph of Peabody; dear brother of the late Marion Eident, Theodore Kanall and James Kanall and cherished grandfather of Danielle Taylor and her husband, Edwin of Pelham, New Hampshire and Lauren and Andrea, both of Peabody.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home on Saturday, June 15, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev Chris O’Connor and Rev. Alice Tabor

Past Worthy Advisor of Winthrop Rainbow; life member of the Colonial Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the Point Shirley Assoc. and the Cottage Park Yacht Club.

Alice B. Tabor, 92, of Exeter, N.H., formerly of Winthrop and Melrose, passed away on June 12 at RiverWoods at Exeter. 

Born in Medford  on June 1, 1927, Mrs. Tabor was the daughter of the late Alfred Fearing and Barbara (Packard) Emerson.

She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1944 and attended Katharine Gibbs School in Boston.  Before becoming a homemaker, she worked as a secretary for Kidder, Peabody & Co. and maintained an interest in finance and investing throughout her life.

In her youth, Alice was active in the Episcopal Fellowship and the Junior Altar Guild. She was a Past Worthy Advisor of the Winthrop Assembly Order of Rainbow and went on to be chosen Grand Faith at the Massachusetts Grand Assembly. Later she was a life member of the Colonial Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Point Shirley Assoc. and the Cottage Park Yacht Club. She spent many enjoyable summers with her family at their cottage on Angle Pond in Sandown, N.H.

Mrs. Tabor was predeceased by her son, Charles S. Tabor IV, in 1995.  She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Charles S. Tabor III of Exeter, N.H., and two beloved daughters, Janice Tabor of Melrose and Susan Lodico and her husband, Richard of Pelham, N.H. She was the sister of Valerie Fearing of Peabody and the late Alfred Fearing Jr. of Buxton, Maine.

Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop and a memorial service will be held at RiverWoods at Exeter in Exeter, N.H., the second week in July.  Service details will be announced at a later date and can be found at the Brewitt Funeral Home website: brewittfuneralhome.com.

Irene Bianco

Retired nurse’s aide

Irene Bianco of Putnam St., Winthrop passed away at the Avita of Stroudwater in Westbrook, Maine on June 10. She was 93 years old.

Born in Winthrop, the beloved daughter of the late Irene (Morris) and Frank Cartwright, she was a long time Winthrop resident and worked as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes for many years.

She was the devoted wife of the late Allen F. Bianco and the loving mother of Linda McCormick of Winthrop, Candace Carr of Marblehead, Stephen Bianco of Peabody and David Bianco; dear sister of the late Virginia “Ginny” McGlincey and Frank Cartwright. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery on Saturday, June 15.
