Ruby Viens Recognized for Artwork

Second-grader Ruby Viens, is one of six students in grades K-12, whose artwork was selected to be displayed at the State Transportation Building as part in the Youth Art Show. Sponsored by the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA), the exhibit is part of Youth Art Month (YAM), a national celebration endorsed by the Council for Art Education and the National Art Ed-ucation Association (NAEA).

This yearly celebration is held during March and emphasizes the value of art education for all chil-dren and encourages support for quality art programs in schools. This year’s Youth Art Month theme is Your Art, Your Story.

“Ruby is a truly talented artist,” said art teacher, Sarah Egan. “She takes her time while creating and often appears to be reflecting on her work during the art-making process. It was a difficult decision since we have so many talented students, however; fellow staff helped me narrow down the selec-tions.”

The following five students also have artwork displayed there: Daniel Edwards (K), Dazlynn Johnson (K), William Reth (1st), Lilianna Roberts (1st), and Michael Barron (2nd).
