The passing this week of Robert L. Driscoll Sr. removes from our midst one of the truly great public servants in the history of the Town of Winthrop.
Bob served for many years on the Planning Board, not merely with distinction, but with a devotion to achieving the best result for our town and our residents on every issue that came before the board.
Bob’s dedication to his community always was evident in his common-sense approach to the many and multi-faceted issues that came before the Planning Board. Bob could be counted upon to be the voice of reason, comporting himself with a grace and dignity that was admired by all and epitomizing the axiom that it was possible to disagree without being disagreeable.
We know we speak for all of our fellow residents in offering our condolences to his wonderful family upon their loss.
May he rest in peace.
