Businessman and Precinct 2 Councilor James Letterie was appointed to serve on the Town Council as vice president. The previous vice president was attorney and councilor Phil Boncore.
The council typically makes its own appointments this time of year, also assigning councilors to various committees.
Also nominated but not earning enough votes was Precinct 4 Councilor Heather Engman, has served two terms on the council. Prior to that she served for a term on the Board of Health.
“With the center business district she has led the way to add provisions for accountability,†said Councilor Nick LoConte, noting her legal knowledge has been helpful during lawsuits the town has been involved in.
Letterie, has also served on the Finance Committee, the Miller Field Committee and school building committee.
“He’s been involved in every major project in town in the last 12 years,†Boncore said.
By a vote of 5-3 Letterie was selected as vice president.

• The council voted to authorize bonding in the amount of $586,000 from the MWRA for the Center Business District Infrastructure project.
