Workshop offered to parents

Parents Forum Winthrop is pleased to announce a free two-part workshop at the Winthrop Public Library to be offered on Wednesdays, Nov. 7 and 14, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Dr. Gabriel Rodriguez, a Winthrop resident, will co-present with Eve Sullivan, program founder. Registration is now open for parents, parenting services providers and agency leaders. All are welcome. Space is limited.

Mrs. Anita Preble, coordinator of Winthrop Parent Network, who attended the workshop in April, found it to be “a great opportunity to reflect on your own parenting practices and discuss with other parents the ways they deal with challenging situations. It was informative and enlightening!”

Dr. Rodriguez, now coordinator of Parents Forum Winthrop, takes over from Therese Ockenden, who brought the program to Winthrop. Mrs. Ockenden also led parent-child playgroups at the Chelsea Revere Family Network where, in January, a bilingual Spanish-English Parents Forum workshop was co-led by Ockenden and Sullivan with translation provided by Mrs. Suyapa Fuentes. In a farewell note Mrs. Ockenden wrote, “As my husband and I leave Winthrop for a year-long camping adventure, I want to thank the many people who have made our last seven years here so rich and so filled with friends and fun. I especially wish all the best to each and every family.”

Winthrop Parents Forum is supported by Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, community leaders and businesses. For more information on the November 7 and 14 two-part workshop or other questions about Parents Forum send email to info@parentsforum.org or call 617-864-3802.
