Voters went to the polls last Tuesday, Sept. 4 to cast their votes on Republican, Democrat or Libertarian ballots for several races including governor, Suffolk County District Attorney and more. Here is a recap on how Winthrop voters voted.
On the Republican ballot, local voters gave Charlie Baker 441 voters for governor, KarynPolito garnered 496 votes for Lt. Governor, Geoff Diehl earned 303 Winthrop votes for Senator in Congress. Secretary of State candidate Anthony Amore earned 442 votes.
On the Democratic ballot, Elizabeth Warren received 1,468 local votes for Senator in Congress. Candidate for Governor, Jay Gonzalez earned 829 votes in Winthrop. Jimmy Tingle, known for his comic relief earned 842 votes. William Galvin earned 1,423 votes while challenger Josh Zakim got 473 votes. Winthrop resident and State Sen. Joe Boncore earned 1,624 votes. Fellow Winthrop resident and Speaker of the House of Representatives Robert DeLeo earned 1,675 votes for State Rep. Attorney General Maura Healey earned 1,609 votes in Winthrop. William Galvin earned 1,423 votes for Secretary of State. Deb Goldberg earned 1,417. Katherine Clark, Representative in Congress, took 1,501 votes. Greg Henning took the local race for district attorney with 682 votes.
On the Libertarian ticket there were a total of six ballots cast in Winthrop.
