Retired MGH anesthesiologist technician
Norma McGrath of Cliff Avenue, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Aug. 25. She was 86 years old.
Born in Boston, the beloved daughter of the late Helen (Ohlson) and William F. Pumphret and a lifelong resident of Winthrop, she was employed as an anesthesiologist technician at the Massachusetts General Hospital prior to her retirement.
She was the devoted wife of the late Allan McGrath and the loving mother of Ellen J. Helleberg of Winthrop and Patty Meaney and her husband, David of Topsfield; the dear sister of the late Carol Bruce, William, Paul and Michael Pumphret; cherished grandmother of Jen and her husband, Erick, Christian, Alexandra and the late Ashley. She is also survived by her great-grandson Hunter Scutellaro and her companion, Cali.
The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-FrazierÊFuneral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 29 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Winthrop. Rev. Charles Bourke celebrated the mass and offered prayers at the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.

Lifelong Winthrop resident
Allen Bianco of Putnam St., Winthrop passed away the the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford on Aug. 23. He was 94 years old.
Born in Winthrop, the beloved son of the late Helen (Abely) and Alexander Bianco, he was a lifelong Winthrop resident.
He enlisted in the USNavy at an early age serving during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he went on to work in maintenance for the MIT athletic department.
He was the devoted husband of Irene (Cartwright) and the loving father of Linda McCormick of Winthrop, Candace Carr of Marblehead, Stephen Bianco of Peabody and David Bianco of Bedford. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug.28.
