Look ahead on Winthrop Shore Drive

The following work items are ongoing along Winthrop Shore Drive up to June 15.  You can expect to see these activities continue over the next two weeks.

Removal of the sidewalk and curb on the residential side. National  Grid and its contractor are installing a new gas pipe.

Installation of shower towers/foot washes, benches and other items on

the ocean sidewalk.

Installation of railings near Highland Park.

Grouting of the granite block seawall north of Locust Street.

Detours and setups will be in place during working hours.

Police on site to help manage traffic.

Work hours:

6 am – 7 am for setups and detours

7 am – 3:30 pm for construction and

3:30 pm – 4:30 pm for safety breakdown of setups and any patching or a need to make the roadway safe for the travelling public during the down time.

Traffic and Parking Impacts

Parking restrictions will remain in place as posted to allow for construction activities.

Questions or concerns about the project should be directed to DCR Resident Engineer James Caputo, at the DCR trailer behind the DCR bathhouse on Winthrop Shore Drive, by visit or phone (617-846-1489) during regular business hours,  Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.   In case of an emergency, contact 911 or DCR’s 24/7 emergency hotline at the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency at 508-820-1428.

This is not Viking Pride

According to Vin Crossman of the Viking Pride and Winthrop Football, if you get an email asking you to purchase an advertisement, T-Shirt, Cup, etc. for the for the Winthrop High School Football Team… it is a SCAM. It is NOT from WHS or Viking Pride.

The email subject area is:  Winthrop HS Varsity Football and the one we got is from Alec Ross at [email protected]

Delete the email they do not represent Winthrop Football or Viking Pride.

 

Raise Funds for Fireworks

The annual fundraising for the Fourth of July fireworks has begun, according to Fire Chief Paul Flanagan, and yes, this year’s fireworks will be on the Fourth!

Donation can be sent to the Winthrop Fireworks Fund, 40 Pauline St., Winthrop, MA 02152
