Annette ‘Nettie’ Mailhiot

Former Winthrop Youth Hockey treasurer and

former head Winthrop High School cheerleader coach

Annette “Nettie” Mailhiot of Wilshire Street, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on May 16. She was 61 years old.

Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Helen (Fucillo) and Eugene “Jeep” Eruzione. A lifetime resident of Winthrop she was employed as an administrative assistant for Segal, Rogers and Marco Advisors. She was also the former treasurer for Winthrop Youth Hockey and the former head cheerleader coach for Winthrop High School.

She was the devoted wife of the late Hervey Mailhiot and the loving mother of Christopher Mailhiot and Rachel Mailhiot and her partner, Matthew Dyer, all of Winthrop; dear sister of Constance Crossman and her husband, Robert, Nancy Lane and her husband, James, Jean Eruzione, Michael Eruzione and his wife, Donna and Vincent Eruzione and his wife, Anne and cherished grandmother of Callie Elizabeth Dyer. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on Monday, May 21, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Committal was private.

Carl Halvorsen

Affiliated with Masonic Lodges in Massachusetts and California

Carl W. Halvorsen of Otis Street, Winthrop passed away at home on May 20. He was 88 years old.

Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Lillian (Williams) and Carl M. Halvorsen, he was a lifetime resident of Winthrop, and a 1949 graduate of Winthrop High School and Massachusetts Maritime Academy. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy for two years and honorably discharged as a lieutenant.

Mr. Halvorsen worked in the insurance business for over 20 years. At the age of 50, he went back to sea with the Oceanographic Survey Ships until he retired in 1979. He was also affiliated with the Masonic Lodges in California and Massachusetts.

He leaves his wife ,Eleanor Marsh Jackson and four step children, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery on Wednesday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital Office of Development Shriners Hospitals for Childrens 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fla. 33607 or go towww.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.

Wilma Law

Former Winthrop resident

Wilma Law of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, May 10. She was 59 years old.

A graduate of Winthrop High School, Class of 1977, she worked at IMPAC in Punta Gorda, Fla., and most recently worked at Walmart in Sevierville, Tenn.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Joyce Sherman. Surviviors include her husband, Henry Law and her daughters, Kristy Law and Brooke Kelley and her siblings: Sandra (Tom), Robert (Cindy), Lynda (Marc) and James (Donna); her brother-in-law, Chuck, her sister in law Diane, and numerous other family members.
