Thomas Brennan

U.S. Postal Service retiree of Reading, formerly of Winthrop

Thomas E. Brennan of Reading died on Friday, March 30 at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 72 years old.

Thomas was born in Winthrop on September 29, 1945, the son of the late Charles F. and Eleanor K. (McGuiness) Brennan. He was raised in Winthrop, attended Dominic Savio High School and later graduated from Winthrop High School. He served in the U.S Air Force Reserve and has been Reading resident since 1973. He retired from the U.S Postal Service after 45 years. He was also a long time member of the Winthrop Yacht Club, an avid Patriots fan and Patriots season ticket holder since 1969. Thomas also enjoyed food, beer, music, and Boston Sports.

The beloved husband of Donna M. (Smith) Brennan with whom he shared 47 years of marriage, he was the loving father of Justin M. Brennan and his wife, Jessica of Salem and Sean T. Brennan and his wife, Michelle of Reading; the brother of Jean Hanlon and her husband, Edward of Wilmington, and the late Robert Brennan and his surviving wife, Ann. He was the devoted “Papa” of Jake and Lucy and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Funeral arrangements were by the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield. Interment was in Wood End Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Shrine 16 Church St. Fiskdale, MA 01518. For obit/directions/guestbook,www.mcdonaldfs.com.

Aschi Novick

Of Winthrop

Aschi Novick of Winthrop entered into rest on May 8 at the age of 72.

The cherished mother of Emalie Novick, she was the beloved sister of Dr. Joseph A. Mack and his late wife, Janet B. Mack; dear aunt of Jennifer Suzanne Baker and Adam Michael Mack and his wife, Stacy Watts Mack and loving great-aunt of Chloe Suzanne Baker. She was the devoted daughter of the late John Clifton McAnespie and the late Augusta Novick Mack. Aschi is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements were by Stanetsky   Memorial   Chapels,   Brookline. Interment was at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Aschi’s memory may be made to Temple Tifereth Israel, 93 Veterans Road, Winthrop, MA 02152, www.jewish-winthrop.org.

David Alioto

Taking care of his three girls was his greatest priority

David J. Alioto of Quincy Avenue, Winthrop passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his loving family at Massachusetts General Hospital on May 8.

Born in and a lifelong resident of Winthrop, David graduated from Winthrop High School and worked at the Wang and Shubert Theatre as the Manager of  Facilities and Property Management for 18 years. He was a member of Local 402 Painters and Allied Trades Union for 26 years. He transitioned into property management and restoration services. But, his greatest love and priority that he cherished the most was taking care of his three girls.

He was the beloved son of Barbara M. (Thornton) and the late Victor Alioto Sr.; the beloved husband of Dena Alioto and devoted father of Alexandra (Ali) and Ava Lee. He was also the beloved son-in-law of Leo Coluntino and the late Mary Coluntino of Revere; dear brother of Bonnie Whiting and her husband, Gary of Arizona, Victor Alioto, Jr. of Revere, Donna Eruzione and her husband, Michael of Winthrop, Mark Alioto of Winthrop, Stephen Alioto and his wife, Donna of Winthrop, Susan Tapparo and her husband, Andy of Topsfield, Debbie Oliver and her husband, John of Winthrop, the late Paul Alioto of Winthrop, Patty DiBenedetto and her husband, Tommy of Winthrop, Mary Alioto and her companion, Rodney Leach of Winthrop, Michael Alioto and his wife, Jenn of Winthrop and Danny Alioto of his wife, Susan of Winthrop; dear brother-in-law of Nancy Finnegan and her husband, Douglas of Peabody. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral was conducted from the Caggiano-O’Maley-Frazier Funeral Home, Winthrop on May 15, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Evangelist Church. Rev. Peter Graziano celebrated the mass.
