We wish to offer a brief “Thank you†to the administration of Gov. Charles Baker, and in particular Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, for the recent presentation of a check for $261,680 from the MassWorks grant program that will be used by the town for the ongoing infrastructure improvements to Winthrop Center.
This grant comes on the heels of the $2.3 million grant that the town received last summer in a presentation made by Gov. Baker himself in French Square.
What impressed us most about the recent presentation by Lieut. Gov. Polito were her words in which she thanked the “great Speaker, Bob DeLeo, who has been a good friend to me and Gov. Baker and the rest of the Commonwealth.â€
In this era of an increasingly partisan divide, it is refreshing to see that in Massachusetts, at least, Republicans and Democrats are working together on Beacon Hill to make our state a better place for all of our citizens.
We also wish to acknowledge the roles that Bob DeLeo and State Sen. Joseph Boncore no doubt played behind the scenes in securing this important funding for the development of our town’s business center.
