Local Students Recieve Honors

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) has announced that Joseph Bosco of Winthrop, a member of the Class of 2019 majoring in chemical engineering, was named to the university’s Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester.

A total of 1,608 undergraduate students achieved the criteria required for WPI’s fall 2017 Dean’s List. The criteria for the WPI Dean’s List differs from that of most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean’s List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.

Named to the Dean’s List at Saint Michael’s College for the Fall 2017 semester was Andrew J. Olevitz, a first year business administration major who is the son of Amy and John Olevitz of Winthrop (2152) and a graduate of Dexter Southfield School.

A student who has completed a minimum of fourteen credits of classes with grades, not including classes with a grade “P”, and achieves a grade point  average of at least 3.5 in a particular semester is cited on the Dean’s List for that semester. A student whose record includes the grade of I or X (incomplete) in a particular semester is not eligible for inclusion on the Dean’s List, either at the end of the semester or when the I or X is changed to a permanent letter grade.
