Voters will be going to the polls Tuesday using new voting machines, and for some new polling places.
For Precincts 1, 3, 6 voters should report to the Winthrop Middle/High School, 400 Main St., to vote. For Precinct 2 and 5 the Arthur T. Cummings School, 40 Hermon St. is the polling location. Precinct 4 votes at O’Connell
Hall on Golden Drive.
There are 12,318 registered voters, and turnout is expected to be about 35 percent. Absentee ballots are available up to noon the day before the election and they must be returned by 8 p.m. at the close of the polls.
The long-range forecast shows Election Day as cloudy and 64 degrees.
There are some good races in the local election, starting with the race for town council president.
Running for council president are Richard N. Boyajian, the current Precinct 3 councillor. Jeffrey Rosario Turco, an attorney and former Town Council president is also running, as is current School Committee member Ronald V. Vecchia.
For the councilor at large seat, Michael P. Lucerto and Robert A. DeMarco are running.
For councilor in Precinct 1 Michael McDuffee will run unopposed, as will Nick LoConte, former Board of Health member, who will run unopposed in Precinct 3.
There is a race for councilor in Precinct 5 between Peter Christopher and Steve Koutalakis.
Running for Housing Authority are Frederick Silck III, Peter Gill, Marie Matarazzo, Peter Burke Jr. and Vincent Wisniewski Jr.
Candidates for School Committee are James Fabiano, Jennifer Powell, John Lyons and Brian Perrin.
Running for Library Trustee are Virginia Wallace, Gillian Teixeira and Betty Peabody.
