Beverly Richards Celebrating 35 Years of Quality Dance Education

Beverly Richards Buckley is proud to announce her 35th season of Dance. The Beverly Richards Dance Center began on July 10, 1983 in Orient Heights East Boston. The accomplishments and success of the school are outstanding. Besides having her own business, Beverly is a teacher at St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. A professional performer herself, she is a 6-year veteran of the New England Patriot Cheerleaders and will be one of the Alumni featured at Pre-Game opener performing at the NE Patriots vs Giants pre-season game on August 31st 2017. Some of her credits include; former choreographer of the Boston Breaker Cheerleaders (USFL), former choreographer of Boston College Dance Team, has a professional Dance troupe known as Beverly Richards & Company, featured with Angelo Picardi, Sergio Franki, Pat Cooper, Lew Bernard, and has appeared with Bob Hope, Tony Randall, and many others on stage and television. Beverly is a member of the Dance Teachers Club of Boston, Inc. with the American Society, Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, Dance Masters New England Chapter 5, National Dance Teacher Association, and the United States Twirling Association.  Beverly is a founding member of NEPCAA.ORG, New England Professional Cheerleader Alumni Association.  Beverly has received numerous awards including 1995 Human Performance and Fitness Alumni Award – U Mass Boston, and 1993 Secondary Physical Education and Dance “Teacher of the Year” and was the recipient for the 1998 National Dance Association, “Eastern District Dance Educator of the Year”.

For student accomplishments there are several Grand National Champions as well as college graduates with performing arts degrees and current college students in the field of dance. This past season student Alyssa McGrath was the recipient of the Dean College scholarship, a $20,000.00 per year re-newable for 4 year scholarship.

Currently, student Amy Spanger, a professional actor,singer,dancer living in New York just signed on with the Blacklist . Amy has been an actor on Law and Order SVU and has had lead roles on Broadway for Matilda the Musical, Chicago, and Rent, just to name a few. Michael Guarnera, who now resides in California, is a professional actor, dancer, and producer. He is known for Desperate Housewives and has recently appeared on Hawaii 50 and NCIS. Jennifer Geska, a professional dancer/choreographer now operates Aura Studio in North Carolina as Owner/Director.

Beverly is proud to acknowledge her outstanding faculty. Beverly ‘s faculty are all graduates “By Test to Teach” of the Dance Teacher Club of Boston’s Teacher training course and are all members of the Dance Teachers Club of Boston.  Mrs. Jade Alexa Baglio, head instructor, is a graduate of SSU with a degree in Sports Movement Science with a concentration in Dance, a certified Para-Educator, a professional dancer/choreographer and is currently on the Board of Directors for the DTCB. Mrs. Jade is the recipient of the 2011 Dance Spirit Magazine’s Miss Dance Massachusetts, and has received the Creativity Award from SSU where she was also recognized and awarded for her choreography and performance at the American College Festival and Salem State University shows. Kathryne Burke, winner of the Pam Ferry award for overall excellance in Ballet, holds a degree from Emerson College in Visual Media Arts, with a minor in Dance and is a professional dancer/choreographer and the Director of the Little Gym in Waltham. Amanda Cosgrove is an Elementary School Teacher for the Boston Public Schools and has a teacher’s degree and a degree in Sports Movement Science with a concentration in Dance, also a recipient of a Presidential Arts Scholarship. Emmanuel Encarnation has a degree in Business Administration and Dance and is a professional dancer/choreographer with the IMPACT Dance Company and has been awarded a Presidential Arts Scholarship and the Creative Arts Award from SSU. Brianna Poirier earned her degree in Psychology from Suffolk University and is currently taking Graduate courses for Psychology, and is a National Dance Champion. Linnea Thorne is a student at SSU and will soon graduate with a degree in Sports Movement Sciences with a concentration in Dance. Linnea is also a choreographer and performing member of the Salem Dance Ensemble and Repertory Dance Theater through SSU, as well as a National Dance Champion.

Beverly, her faculty, and her students have proven that dedication and determination can make you a winner and that scholastic education and performing arts are highly respected. The BRDC studio strives for excellence.
