Effective July 1, Lisa Howard will take on the role of Interim Superintendent of Schools. The agreement between Howard and the Winthrop School Committee states that she will be employed until June 30, 2018 and will be compensated $145,000 dollars for the allocated time, which will be paid in biweekly installments. Howard will be entitled to 15 sick days, 25 vacation days exclusive of holidays and granted a travel allowance of $500 for two conferences that will be held in fiscal year 2018.
In addition to being engaged in community events, Howard will also be required to attend evening and weekend meetings during her 12-month assignment. As the Chief Executive Officer of the school district, Howard will be responsible for managing and organizing the administrative and supervisory staff within the district.
Howard, who is currently the Executive Director of Pupil Personnel in Saugus, will be replacing John Macero as he moves on to the role of Superintendent of the Stoneham School District. The first item on Howard’s agenda will be to meet with the Superintendent Subcommittee and the Winthrop School Committee to discuss goals and objectives for the upcoming school year.
